摘要： A plate delivery system provides storage for plates in a first-in, last-out configuration. As the kitchen staff completes a meal (plated), the plate holding the meal is presented to the plate delivery system and the plate moves into the plate delivery system to be ready for the next plate. After a number of plates are stored in the plate delivery system, the plate delivery system is transported from the kitchen to the eating area (e.g., restaurant table or banquet table) and each plate is sequentially presented to a delivery mechanism (e.g., a robot or a waitperson) for final delivery to the table. In some embodiments, the plate delivery system is enclosed and has a cover mechanism to prevent food contamination by foreign matter and in some embodiments, the plate delivery system has heating/cooling mechanisms to help keep warm food warm or cool food cool.

摘要： A rotary food server for storing food in a chilled condition includes a dish rotatably mounted on a stationary base and having central and peripheral pockets for removably receiving food storage trays having removable lids. Coolant housings containing a chilled-retaining substance are refrigerator prior to use and then placed beneath and at the sides of the trays to chill food stored in the trays. In an alternative embodiment, a lower housing rotatably mounted on a stationary base has a cavity therein filled with a cooling medium such as a mixture of ice and water. Mounting of an upper housing on the lower housing causes cavities formed in the upper housing to displace the cooling medium to the sides as well as the bottoms thereof to chill food stored within the cavities.

摘要： A self-feeding appliance for use by persons who have lost the use of both arms is disclosed. A turntable carrying one or more food dishes is mounted for rotation on a carriage panel. The carriage panel is mounted on a service platform for movement from a retracted position overlying a service deck portion of the service platform to an extended position forward of the service deck. A spoon is mounted on the carriage panel and projects laterally over the service deck. The lateral position of the spoon and the elevation of the service platform is adjustable to accomodate wheel chair service, bedside service, or table service. After the appliance is set up on a bed tray or on a table, a food dish is selected by rotating the turntable until the selected dish is brought into alignment with the spoon. This is accomplished entirely by head and neck movements, in conjunction with minimal upper torso control, by manipulating a scraping utensil secured to a headband, whereby a disabled person can select and eat food without assistance or supervision.
