Abstract: In an item of luggage includes at least six side walls. The side walls each have at least one outer surface and one inner surface, the outer and the inner surface are substantially parallel to each other. At at least one of the side walls, at least one elevation is provided on the associated outer surface, which elevation includes at least one exit surface that at least partially is not parallel to the outer surface of the respective side wall, and at least the side wall which includes the at least one elevation is made from a plastic material that contains a fluorescent dye and is light-conducting and light-transmissive such that light is adapted to be introduced into the respective side wall and transmitted and exit at the respective at least one exit surface. A conversion of invisible UV light into visible light takes place in the respective side wall.

Abstract: A modular linking system allows bags, pouches, and other items to be connected together quickly and securely while providing the ability to remotely disconnect the two items. The modular linking system includes a post assembly and a receiver assembly, each of which includes a geared component to permit variously angled, non-rotational engagement therebetween. The receiver assembly includes a locking member that is resiliently moveable to an unlocked position to permit disengagement between the post assembly and the receiver assembly. The locking member includes two arms that are positioned in a slide lockup channel of the post assembly in the locked configuration, where the arms move out of engagement with the slide lockup channel in the unlocked configuration.

Abstract: An electronic tag device for cargo or baggage comprising a housing, a microcontroller, a memory, a wireless communications module, and a sensor module. The microcontroller is configured to receive itinerary data via the wireless communications module while the microcontroller is operating in a first mode and store the itinerary data in memory. The itinerary data may include at least a place of departure, a departure time, a place of arrival, and an arrival time. The microcontroller is further configured to enter a second mode based on at least one of the departure time in the itinerary and sensor data received from the sensor module, wherein the wireless communications module is disabled in the second mode, and return to the first mode based on at least one of the arrival time in the itinerary and sensor data received from the sensor module. The microcontroller will communicate with a remote system using the communications module while in the first mode and turn off all communication while in the second mode.

Abstract: A composite structure and article of manufacture for a detachable carrier for beach badge or pool tag are disclosed. In various embodiments, a composite structure having a clip, a strap and a body arranged as a carrier for a metal pin badge that can be easily attached and detached in its entirety is disclosed. The composite structure further comprises front and back sides and an inner layer. At the top of the composite structure, the strap forms a larger loop that is used to attach the composite structure to a clip or device. At the far end of the composite structure, the beach badge is mounted onto the composite structure by inserting the metal pin of the badge through one of the insertion point created by one or more delimiters.

Abstract: A method for tracking pieces of baggage comprises the steps of providing one or more first devices, each of the first devices being attached to the pieces of baggage and each of the first devices comprising a first transceiver; transmitting, by each of the first transceivers, wireless data, the wireless data comprising a device identifier for the respective first device; providing a second device, the second device comprising a second transceiver and a user interface; receiving, by the second transceiver, the wireless data from one or more of the first transceivers; displaying on the user interface the device identifiers corresponding to the respective first devices from which the wireless data was received; selecting one or more of the device identifiers, the selected one or more of the device identifiers corresponding to the first devices that are selected for tracking; and generating, by the second device, an alarm if one of the first devices that are selected for tracking moves beyond a particular distance from the second device, wherein the particular distance may be determined using a signal strength of the wireless data received by the second transceiver.
