Abstract: An umbrella pole brace assembly includes an umbrella that has a pole and a pivoting mechanism for facilitating a top portion of the pole to be oriented at an angle with a bottom portion of the pole thereby facilitating the umbrella to be retained in a tilted orientation. A pair of half pipes is hingedly coupled together such that the pair of half pipes forms a sleeve which is positionable around the pole of the umbrella for covering the pivoting mechanism. Each of the pair of half pipes is comprised of a rigid material thereby facilitating the sleeve formed by the pair of half pipes to inhibit the pivoting mechanism from pivoting for retaining the umbrella in a horizontal orientation.

Abstract: A joint having a base portion, an upper portion, and an actuation portion. The base portion defines a socket. The upper portion has a spherical element at least partially located inside the socket, and the spherical element defines a locking portion. The actuation portion is at least partially located inside the base portion. The actuation portion has a button, a button spring, a pin, a pin spring. The button defines a pin receiving space. The pin has a pin projection, and the pin extends through the pin receiving space. The button is configured to move between a locked position, in which the pin is prevented from moving in an actuation direction, and an actuation position, in which the pin is capable of at least some movement in the actuation direction. The button spring biases the button to the locked position, and the pin spring biases the pin toward the spherical element and abuts the locking portion. In the actuation position, the upper portion is able to move within the socket while the pin projection abuts the spherical element, and the pin is able to move in the actuation direction. In the locked position, the button prevents the pin from moving in the actuation direction, and the pin projection is located inside the locking portion.
