Abstract: A method of entraining a second fluid in a first fluid is provided. The method comprises supplying a first fluid to a processing passage (4) having an inlet (6) and an outlet (8), and supplying an entrainment fluid to a nozzle (10) which opens into the processing passage (4) intermediate the passage inlet (6) and the passage outlet (8). A second fluid which will undergo a change of phase and/or state when added to the first fluid is also provided, and supplied to a first port (22) opening into the processing passage (4) adjacent the nozzle (10). The entrainment fluid is injected from the nozzle (10) into the processing passage (4) so as to form a dispersed phase of the first and second fluids in a continuous vapor phase, and the vapor phase is condensed downstream of the nozzle (10). A device suitable for carrying out such a method is also provided.

Abstract: Dispensing systems for dispensing one or more materials into a fluid flow conduit, during the conveyance of fluid through the conduit are configured to connect to a fluid conduit, such as a standard pipe of a shower arm and dispense a material into the water flow in the shower arm. The system includes a first tube member having a restrictor flow passage to provide a pressure differential, as fluid flows through the tube member. The pressure differential created within the restrictor passage by the fluid flow is communicated to a flask, to provide a pressure differential between the interior and the exterior of a flexible container within the flask. The pressure differential causes material within the flexible container to be drawn out and conveyed to the fluid flowing through the tube member. The flask may be connected to the first tube member, through an extension portion that is rotatable around the first tube member for convenient positioning. A quick-release connection structure may allow the flask to be connected and selectively releasable from the system.

Abstract: A hose mounted fluid mixing dispenser has a fluid containing bladder inside a bottle. A bottle cap fitting the bottle has a water hose connection, a water passage having a rectilinear portion and a nozzle with an adjustable metering device for introducing fluid from the bladder into the water stream as it passes through the rectilinear portion. A removable plug in the cap permits filling of the bladder. An anti-syphon device is incorporated in the hose connecting portion of the cap. Water fills the space between the bladder and the bottle as the bladder empties, providing a pressure differential to impel fluid into the stream.

Abstract: Apparatus for dosing a flowing fluid, particularly for dosing an airstream with lubricant. The apparatus includes a casing for connection into the fluid flow line and, within the casing, a cartridge with the additive therein. The cartridge comprises a bag and a nozzle, the nozzle including a metering bore and a spigot which closes the metering bore. Before the cartridge is placed in the casing for use, the spigot is removed so as to open the outlet end of the metering bore. The casing includes a cartridge plate having a stepped aperture therein, the step providing an axially facing shoulder, and the nozzle including a rib which inter-engages with said shoulder to locate the cartridge in the casing. There is a stop element in the bore which is positioned so that it is engaged by said spigot before the rib interengages with the shoulder if an operator attempts to push a nozzle into said bore without having removed the spigot. The preferred form of the stop element is a dished, disc with its concave side facing the nozzle and having a central aperture which exerts some metering influence on additive which has emerged through the metering bore of the nozzle.
