    摘要: A process and composition for producing a permselective composite membrane. The process comprises dissolving a specified imidazolone ring-containing aromatic polymer in an aqueous liquid medium containing a water-miscible amine having a pKa of more than 5.0 in a concentration of at least 5% by weight, coating the polymer solution on a microporous substrate, and drying the coating to form an ultrathin film on the substrate. The permselective composite membrane obtained is especially useful as a reverse osomsis membrane.

    摘要: Regular copolyamides of the formula ##EQU1## WHERE X IS 2 TO 10, Y IS 0 TO 8, R is a divalent aliphatic or aromatic radical having 1 to 34 carbon atoms, and n is not less than 10, are prepared by reacting an aliphatic diester with an excess of an aliphatic diamine to form a diamine diamide, and reacting the diamine diamide intermediate with an aliphatic or aromatic diacid chloride.Permselective membranes prepared from the copolyamides find particular utility in desalination of water by reverse osmosis.

    摘要: Polymeric piperazinamides suitable for use in reverse osmosis membranes. These polymeric piperazineamides consist essentially of the repeating unit ##STR1## wherein x is zero or a whole number from 1 to 8, R is a substituent such as alkyl, and --A-- is a bivalent radical, namely an organic dicarbonyl radical which either is always of the formula ##STR2## wherein X is oxygen or sulfur, and R' and R" are each hydrogen, alkyl, or aryl, or else where some of said radicals --A-- are of formula (III) and the remainder of said radicals --A-- are organic dicarbonyl radicals differing from said formula (III).
