Abstract:
A shear transfer system is provided. In the system a shear tie strap is attached to a first framing member, a second framing member, a third framing member, a fourth framing member, and a fifth framing member of a frame in a framed building. The second, third, fourth, and fifth framing members are orthogonal or oblique to the first framing member. More than one shear tie strap may be present in the framed building.

Abstract:
A container is disclosed. The container has a side part, an upper part, a lower part, and a cavity formed by the side part, the upper part, and the lower part. The container also has a material disposed in the cavity. The side part has at least one protrusion and at least one recess. The side part is permeable to water. The side part is also nonpermeable to the material disposed in the cavity.
Abstract:
A portable shade shelter has a plurality of canopies including at least a first canopy and a second canopy. The first canopy is disposed over the second canopy, and the first canopy is capable of being spaced apart from the second canopy in a vertical direction such that air is capable of flowing between the first canopy and the second canopy. Each of the first canopy and the second canopy includes a plurality of openings configured to permit air and light to pass through the respective first canopy and second canopy.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a shelter having a base having base buses; a frame having curves and beams supporting the curves. Each end of the curves are attached to corresponding base bus; each curve is composed of curved elements, the curved element has means for connecting a curve to another curve with a beam. The shelter further has a cable, which cable is for tightening and supporting the frame. Additionally, there is a curved element, and a use of a shelter as a shelter for aircrafts or as a sports hall.
Abstract:
Systems and method are provided to protect devices from damage due to floodwaters. For example, a system includes a floating platform assembly, an apparatus securely disposed on the floating platform assembly, first and second platform retaining members connected to the floating platform assembly, and first and second vertical support members disposed on opposite sides of the floating platform assembly. Upper ends of the first and second vertical support members are connected to an outer sidewall of a dwelling, and bottom ends of the first and second vertical support members are fixedly secured at ground level. The first and second platform retaining members insertably receive the first and second vertical support members, respectively. The first and second platform retaining members are configured to slide along the respective first and second vertical support members when the floating platform assembly vertically rises and lowers in response to a changing level of floodwater.
Abstract:
A connector is described herein. In an embodiment, a connector may comprises an upper wall, a lower wall, one or more outer circular walls and one or more inner circular walls; wherein one of the one or more outer circular walls is an extended part of the upper wall or the lower wall; wherein one of the one or more outer circular walls and one of the one or more inner circular walls are configured to form a circular slot between the outer circular wall and the inner circular wall; wherein the connector is configured to accommodate a plurality of ends of a plurality of planar panels in the circular slot to connect the plurality of planar panels. The connect further comprises a top connector piece and a bottom connector piece; wherein the top connector piece comprises the upper wall and one of the one or more inner circular walls; wherein the bottom connector piece comprises the lower wall and one of the one or more inner circular walls; wherein the top connector piece and the bottom connector piece are configured to be joined. In an embodiment, the connector is configured to facilitate the assembly of a dome structure.
Abstract:
A retention tie system for pre- or post-construction installation to stabilize masonry or composite walls. The system comprises a tie member anchored in an anchor hole bored into the existing foundation and a tensioned against a base plate and a cover plate seated along the top of the wall. A bracing member is used to provide lateral stability to the respective plate members. A tension washer is used to ensure that the tie members are tensioned to the appropriate load. A guide member is installed within the masonry wall to brace the tie members against lateral deflection.
