In an effort to overcome the shortcomings of conventional sealed speaker designs that typically utilize complicated and expensive means of shielding their electronic components from liquids and other sources of contamination, one or more of the embodiments of the disclosure provided herein include a sealed enclosure that has at least one liquid impermeable region that prevents or substantially inhibits the movement of a liquid from the exterior region into the internal region. In general, the liquid impermeable regions, or hereafter simply “liquid permeable regions,” are configured to prevent the ingress of liquids or other contaminants, while allowing the production of a desired sound quality.
