    摘要: A position-measuring device having integrated function testing includes a position-recording unit, a processing unit, and a control-word generator. In a positional-data request, a positional-data word is first generated in the position-recording unit and output to the processing unit. There, the position data word is processed into a position value. Subsequently, a control-data word is generated in the position-recording unit according to the specification of the control-word generator and output to the processing unit. The processing unit processes the control-data word into a control value which has a defined mathematical relationship to the position value.

    摘要: Various alternative embodiments of a multi-turn capacitive encoder device are disclosed. The device includes two members that are fixed relative to each other and that include respective capacitive electrodes that are capacitively coupled between the two members. The respective capacitive electrodes on one member act as transmitter electrodes and the respective capacitive electrodes on the other member act as receiver electrodes. One or more modulation members are relatively movable between the two fixed members to alter or modulate the capacitive coupling to correspond to the rotational or angular position of the modulation member(s). At least one of the modulation members is driven using a gear reduction system such that its angular or rotational position corresponds to a plurality of turns of the input shaft of the multi-turn encoder. A plurality of signals that depend on the capacitive coupling are used to determine the rotational or angular position of the modulation member(s) relative to the first two members. The present invention combines the elements outlined above to provide a multiturn encoder including few parts, simple assembly, a small axial dimension, and relatively high resolution and accuracy.

    摘要: Binary data optically recorded in circular tracks on a rotating member is converted into electrical signals by illuminating a limited area on the member, magnifying the image of the illuminated area and projecting that image onto a fiber optic assembly having optical fibers for each track on the member which route the light information to photoelectric transducers and convert the light information into electrical signals. Both optical and mechanical magnifying means are used to permit high density radial and circumferential packing of the binary data while permitting the use of relatively large but highly sensitive photoelectric transducers.

    摘要: A time division multiplex system and a logarithmic encoder for high speed multiplex operation is described. By means of a switching network, the system continuously samples a large number of amplitude information signals, typically voice signals, available on separate input channels and encodes them by a logarithmic law into a binary coded form. The coded groups are applied to a common output channel in the time division multiplex format. The encoder is logarithmic, employing a tunnel diode threshold device for comparing the sampled input signal with a repetitive wave of internal generation having an exponentially decaying waveform. A servo network is further provided for stabilizing the encoding tunnel diode against thermal variations and other factors.
