Abstract: The harvester comprises a pendular unit comprising a beam that is elastically deformable in bending, a mount clamping a proximal end of the beam, and an inertial mass mounted at a free, distal end of the beam. The beam converts into an oscillating electric signal a mechanical energy produced by oscillations of the pendular unit. The piezoelectric beam comprises a flexible structure including: a central core; a piezoelectric layer on at least one face of the central core; and at least one surface electrode on an external face of the piezoelectric layer. The central core of the flexible structure is a semiconductor material adapted to form an integrated circuit substrate, and the flexible structure includes at least part of components of an electric or electronic unit, said components being monolithically integrated within the semiconductor material substrate.

Abstract: A vibration motor includes a vibrator, a friction member, and a pressurizing unit. The vibrator includes projecting portions and is vibrated by application of a driving voltage. The projecting portions are arranged in vicinities of nodes of the vibration, respectively. The friction member has a sliding surface formed of a curved surface with which the projecting portions come into contact. The pressurizing unit pressurizes the vibrator against the friction member with a pressurizing force. When the vibrator is vibrated, a driving force is generated in a tangential direction of the sliding surface by the vibration to drive the friction member relative to the vibrator, and each of the projecting portions generates an elliptic motion by the vibration. The elliptic motion is generated with an inclination at a predetermined angle with respect to the curved surface of the sliding surface.

Abstract: A pre-loaded piezoelectric stack actuator comprising a stack of piezoelectric material. Caps are coupled at opposed ends of the stack. Each of the caps includes projecting fingers. Insulating plates are stacked between the ends of the stack and the caps. A pair of pre-loaded spring plates are coupled to the stack. The spring plates define slots. The fingers on the caps extend through respective ones of the slots at respective ends of the spring plates for coupling the spring plates to the stack. A method of pre-loading the piezoelectric stack actuator includes the step of mounting the stack, the caps, the insulating plates, and the spring plates in a pre-load tool that applies a pre-load tensile stretching force to the spring plates. The pre-load tensile force is subsequently released and the actuator is removed from the tool.
