Abstract: The disclosure relates to technology for providing power, voltage, and/or current from a combination of DC sources. The DC sources may be photovoltaic panels. One aspect includes a stack of DC power sources (e.g., photovoltaic modules) with a DC to DC converter (e.g., power optimizer) associated with each DC power source. An output capacitor of a DC to DC converter is connected in series with its DC power source. Thus, there is a string of DC power sources and output capacitors connected in electrical series. The DC output of the system is a series connection of the DC power sources and the output capacitors. This reduces stress on the output capacitors, while allowing for efficient power generation by the DC power sources.

Abstract: A voltage source converter has director valve phase legs in parallel with waveshaper phase legs between two DC terminals. The director valve and waveshaper phase legs include upper and lower phase arms alternately operated to form waveshapes on AC terminals of the converter, thereby allowing a number of waveshaper phase arms to be available for use for other purposes. At least one of the available phase arms is controlled to contribute to other aspects of converter operation than waveshaping.

Abstract: A power conversion circuit includes multiple input-side capacitors connected in series between input terminals; series circuits composed of high-side switching elements and low-side switching elements connected in parallel to the multiple input-side capacitors; and output-side capacitors connected between nodes and a node. The circuit further includes an output-side inductor connected to the node and a controller that alternately turns on and off the high-side switching elements and the low-side switching elements. Each of the low-side switching elements and the high-side switching elements is a MOSFET and causes current to flow from the low side to the high side using a body diode. Accordingly, there is provided a power conversion circuit that has high conversion efficiency and that is capable of realizing reduction in size, a power transmission system, and a power conversion system.

Abstract: A power converter for converting DC power to DC power includes an inverter stage having two or more switched inverters configured to receive DC power from a source and produce a switched AC output power signal. A transformation stage is coupled to receive the switched output power signal from the inverter stage, shape the output power signal, and produce a shaped power signal. A rectifier stage having two or more switched inverters coupled to receive the shaped power signal and convert the shaped power signal to a DC output power signal is included. A controller circuit is coupled to operate the power converter in a variable frequency multiplier mode where at least one of the switched inverters is switched at a frequency or duty cycle that results in an output signal having a frequency that is a harmonic of the fundamental frequency being generated by the power converter.

Abstract: A wind power conversion system includes plural first converting circuits and a second converting circuit. The plural first converting circuits perform a power converting task, and include respective first generator-side terminals and respective first network-side terminals.
