According to the disclosure, the antenna reflector phase correction film has specific refractive index distribution internally, so that a surface emergent phase of a reflector can be corrected after attaching onto a surface of a conventional reflector, a phase error caused due to installation or processing is improved, a complete flat emergent equiphase is obtained, and then a far-field performance (such as a higher gain) is improved.

    摘要: The invention concerns a reflector (8) of radio frequency (RF) energy. The reflector includes a first web layer (9a) formed from a knit of at least a first conductive filament (11a), and a second web layer (9b) formed of a knit of at least a second conductive filament (11b). The first and second web layers can be formed as an open mesh 10. The second web layer is positioned on the first web layer to form a stack. Fastening members (14, 16) are disposed at intervals across a surface of each of the first and second web layers. The fastening members are advantageously configured to secure the first web layer to the second web layer. The invention also concerns a reflector antenna formed using the reflector of radio frequency energy. The reflector antenna includes antenna support elements (18), and the first and second web layers are secured to the antenna support structure to define a curved three dimensional surface.

    摘要: An article comprising a non-conductive substrate having a sub-micron thickness of an oxidizable conductive first metal coating thereon, and a second (promoter) metal which is galvanically effective to promote the corrosion of the first metal, discontinuously coated on the first metal coating. Optionally, the second metal-doped, first metal-coated substrate may be further coated with a salt, to accelerate the galvanic corrosion reaction by which the conductive first metal coating is oxidized. Also disclosed is a related method of forming such articles, comprising chemical vapor depositing the first metal on the substrate and chemical vapor depositing the second metal on the applied first metal coating, and of optionally applying a salt by salt solution contacting of the second metal-doped, first metal-coated substrate. When utilized in a form comprising fine-diameter substrate elements such as glass or ceramic filaments, the resulting product may be usefully employed as an evanescent chaff. In the presence of atmospheric moisture, such evanescent chaff undergoes oxidation of the first metal coating so that the radar signature of the chaff transiently decays.

    摘要: Small lengths of conductors, cut to the appropriate size are used as radar "chaff" or passive reflectors to give spurious returns on an enemy radar and thereby act as an electronic countermeasure. Currently used chaff includes chopped aluminum foil, aluminum coated glass fibres and silver coated nylon monofilaments. Current radars operate in the 10.sup.10 Hz region and current chaff dipoles are of centimetric size, but future radar systems are likely to operate at higher frequencies requiring shorter dipoles lengths to achieve an increased packing density the dipoles also need to be thinner. Carbon fibres have advantages over existing chaff materials as they are fine, light and much stiffer than existing chaff materials. The electrical resistance is about 1000.times.higher than that of aluminum however and this invention therefore proposes the use of carbon fibres coated with a much more conductive coating. Typical coating materials can be copper, silver aluminium applied by a number of different methods.
