An electromagnetic relay, having a core 3 fixed by press-fitting in a yoke 4, which is facilitated in attaching operation and eliminated of the possibility, during press-fitting, of being placed in poor contact by metal chips produced by cutting away the yoke 4 by the core 3. The core 3 is provided with a smaller diameter portion 3c at an end portion and is inserted into a center of a bobbin 1 having a coil 2 wound therearound. A cutout 5 is formed in the yoke 4 so as to receive by press-fitting the smaller diameter portion 3c of the core 3. First slant surfaces 6 are formed in the edge of an opening of the cutout 5 such that the wall thickness becomes thinner toward the opening. Second slant surfaces 7 are provided in the form of curved surfaces at the terminal ends of the first slant surfaces in a manner smoothly continuing to a general surface of the yoke 4 and also to the first slant surfaces 6. The terminal ends of the second slant surfaces 7 are positioned on a diametrical center line of the core 3 when the core 3 is attached to the yoke 4.

An electrical device, which preferably forms a plug-in relay unit, includes a terminal board assembly most advantageously formed by a pair of insulating plates made of thermoplastic material and between which are clamped the intermediate laterally extending portions of terminal blade members having outer portions projecting transversely beyond the outermost plate constituting a base plate and transversely innermost portions projecting beyond the innermost plate constituting a clamp plate. One or more of the terminal blade members carry stationary contacts on the inner ends thereof. The insulating plates are held secured together and a bobbin assembly having thermoplastic pins are passed through apertures in the base assembly and ultrasonically vibrated to weld the same to the walls of the apertures. A core and heel piece sub-assembly is initially mounted for progressive movement upon the bobbin assembly and anchored in place in a given position thereon where the core section thereof projects beyond a core-receiving aperture of the bobbin assembly a given predetermined distance. The core and heel piece sub-assembly includes a core section adjustably mounted in a predetermined position upon a heel piece section before it is mounted on the bobbin assembly. An armature with a movable contact is pivotally mounted on the end of the heel piece section for movement toward and away from the projecting core section.

The movable plate is actuating the circuit breaker arrangement when it is attracted by the core. The first attachment element is attached to the flanks and not to the core element of the core.
