    摘要: Generally, a system for generating a magnetic field having a desired magnetic field strength and/or a desired magnetic field direction is provided. The system can include a plurality of magnetic segments and/or a plurality of ferromagnetic segments. Each magnetic segment can be positioned adjacent to at least one of the plurality of magnetic segments. Each ferromagnetic segment can be positioned adjacent to at least one of the plurality of magnetic segments. In various embodiments, a size, shape, positioning and/or number of magnetic segments and/or ferromagnetic segments in the system, as well as a magnetization direction of the magnetic segments can be predetermined based on, for example, predetermined parameters of the system (e.g., a desired magnetic field strength, direction and/or uniformity of the magnetic field, a desired elimination of a magnetic fringe field and/or total weight of the system) and/or based on a desired application of the system (e.g., performing a magnetic resonance imaging of at least a portion of a patient and/or performing a magnetic resonance spectroscopy of a sample).

    摘要: Techniques for manipulating objects and for determining the position of the objects in parallel dipole line (PDL) trap systems are provided. In one aspect, a PDL trap is provided. The PDL trap includes: a pair of dipole line magnets connected to a potential, wherein the pair of dipole line magnets includes magnets having magnetizations perpendicular to long axes of the magnets; a diamagnetic rod levitating above the pair of dipole line magnets; and at least one electrode above the pair of dipole line magnets, adjacent to the diamagnetic rod. The system produces a hybrid one-dimensional electromagnetic potential which is tunable by voltage. Techniques for operating the PDL trap to manipulate the diamagnetic rod and to detect a position of the diamagnetic rod in the PDL trap are also provided.

    摘要: Techniques for tuning magnetic potential using a variable gap in a parallel dipole line (PDL) trap are provided. In one aspect, a PDL trap is provided. The PDL trap includes: a pair of dipole line magnets separated from one another by a variable gap g; and a diamagnetic object levitating above the dipole line magnets. The dipole line magnets can be separated from one another by at least one spacer, or a variable gap fixture can be used in which the dipole line magnets are affixed to separate mounts for varying the gap g between the dipole line magnets. A bigger trap or track can be built with multiple segments of PDL trap. A method of operating a PDL trap is also provided.

    摘要: A vibration isolator is provided comprising a base structure, a load structure, a displacement structure and at least one vertical air gap formed by opposing and substantially parallel walls of the base structure and the load structure. The opposing walls being at least partly covered by respective arrays of permanent magnets, neighboring magnets in the arrays having alternating magnetization directions, an arrangement of the permanent magnets in the arrays being such that a gravitational force on the load structure is substantially compensated by a net magnetic force of the base structure on the load structure. The displacement structure relatively displaces arrays of permanent magnets of the opposing walls with respect to each along the air gap for adjusting a load capacity of the vibration isolator.
