    摘要: A hard disk supporting structure is provided. The hard disk supporting structure includes a hard disk rack, a crawler mechanism, and a motor. The hard disk rack is for disposing at least one hard disk. A crawler of the crawler mechanism is fixedly connected with the hard disk rack. The motor is connected to a driving gear of the crawler mechanism. The motor drives the rotation of the driving gear, to enable the crawler to drive the hard disk rack to move back and forth. The hard disk supporting structure can automatically move the hard disk rack back and forth through a structure with automatic telescopic function, which greatly saves labor, and improves efficiency.

    摘要: A hard drive carrier includes a frame to receive a hard drive. The frame includes a front and a side, and a handle connects to the front. The hard drive carrier engages with a hard drive bay to hold the hard drive carrier in the hard drive bay at a first insertion depth when the handle is in a closed position. The first insertion depth is selected to prevent a hard drive connector from engaging with an enclosure connector on a backplane of the hard drive bay. The hard drive carrier further engages with the hard drive bay to hold the hard drive carrier at a second insertion depth when the handle is in the closed position. The second insertion depth is selected to engage the hard drive connector with the enclosure connector.

    摘要: A side loading enclosure for a rack mount type storage unit is provided. The enclosure provides for easier access to hard disk drives (HDDs) for maintenance and repair as well as the ability to increase the number of HDDs that can be mounted in a single enclosure. The enclosure may include a bottom plate, a pair of side plates, and a pair of end plates. Located within the enclosure are a first row, extending perpendicularly between the pair of end plates, having one or more stacks of HDDs mounted to a first printed circuit board and a second row, extending perpendicularly between the pair of end plates, having one or more stacks of HDDs mounted to a second printed circuit board. The one or more stacks of HDDS in the first row is separate from and located parallel to the one or more stacks of HDDs in the second row.

According to one embodiment, the system includes a disk drive carrier cage configured to receive a disk drive backplane and up to eight pair of disk drive carrier rails. The disk drive carrier cage is sized for insertion into a drive bay having the dimensions of two optical mass storage devices compatible with a 5.25 inch form factor. The system also includes a disk drive backplane for receiving up to eight hard disk drives, disk drive carriers for holding the hard disk drives, and disk drive carrier rails mountable within the disk drive carrier cage for slidably receiving the disk drive carriers. The disk drive carriers and disk drive carrier rails are translucent thereby permitting light emanating from the backplane to be viewed at the front of the cage.
