    摘要: A magneto-optical recording medium including a recording layer for recording information and a substrate for supporting the recording layer is disclosed. The recording layer includes: a recording magnetic film for recording the information, the recording magnetic film being formed of a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy film; and a readout magnetic film for optically reading out the information, the readout magnetic film being capable of being magnetically coupled with the recording magnetic film by an exchange-coupling force. The composition of the readout magnetic film may be chosen such that the exchange coupling force from the recording magnetic film does not affect the magnetization around the surface of the readout magnetic film on the side on which the readout light is incident.

    摘要: A magneto-optical recording medium including a recording layer for recording information and a substrate for supporting the recording layer is disclosed. The recording layer includes: a recording magnetic film for recording the information, the recording magnetic film being formed of a perpendicular magnetic anisotropy film; a readout magnetic film for optically reading out the information, the readout magnetic film being capable of being magnetically coupled with the recording magnetic film by an exchange-coupling force; and a controlling magnetic film, provided between the recording magnetic film and the readout magnetic film, for controlling the exchange-coupling force. The controlling magnetic film has in-plane magnetic anisotropy at room temperature, thereby suppressing the exchange-coupling force between the recording magnetic film and the readout magnetic film, and when the temperature of the controlling magnetic film reaches a predetermined temperature by a readout light irradiation, the controlling magnetic film stops the suppression of the exchange-coupling force, whereby the information recorded in the recording magnetic film is magnetically transferred to the readout magnetic film.

    摘要: A magneto-optical recording medium includes a first magnetic layer and a second magnetic layer being laminated. When information is to be recorded on the first magnetic layer, first, a magnetization direction in the second magnetic layer is arranged in one direction with an application of an initialization magnetic field. Then, an intensity modulated light beam is projected while applying thereto a recording magnetic field so as to change the magnetization direction in the second magnetic layer. Thereafter, the magnetization direction in the second magnetic layer is copied to the first magnetic layer, thereby recording information. The first magnetic layer has a magnetization in an intermediate direction between a perpendicular direction and an in-plane direction at room temperature, while has a perpendicular magnetization at above a predetermined temperature. Therefore, a smaller exchange coupling force is exerted from the first magnetic layer to the second magnetic layer at room temperature, thereby enabling a rewriting information with a smaller initialization magnetic field compared with the conventional method, thereby achieving a reduction in size of the apparatus and power conservation.

    摘要: An optical disk initializing apparatus includes the first optical system having a gain waveguide laser, a collimator lens, diffraction gratings, and a 45.degree. mirror, the second optical system having a 680-nm red laser, a polarizing beam splitter, a collimator lens, and a .lambda./4 plate, a dichroic mirror, an objective lens, an optical sensor, a phase compensator, a voltage-current conversion amplifier, and an objective lens actuator. The first optical system outputs a first beam for initialization. The second optical system outputs a second beam having a wavelength different from that of the first beam. The dichroic mirror multiplexes the beam emerging from the first optical system and the second beam emerging from the second optical system. The objective lens focuses an output beam emerging from the dichroic mirror on a phase change recording or magneto-optical recording optical disk. The optical sensor detects a focusing error signal from a return beam of the second beam reflected by the optical disk. The phase compensator, the voltage-current conversion amplifier, and the objective lens actuator focus the objective lens in accordance with the focusing error signal output from the optical sensor.
