    摘要: An apparatus includes indicating instruments with slim profiles. The indicating instrument comprises a meter movement and a circuit board. The main body of the meter movement is situated in an aperture in the circuit board. With this placement, the front end of the body of the meter movement extends a distance in front of the circuit board and the back end of the meter movement body extends a distance behind the circuit board. Through appropriate selection and arrangement of any components on the circuit board, the circuit board can be constructed such that none of its components extend beyond the distance that the meter movement extends on either side of the circuit board. In this manner the space needed for the meter movement and the circuit board and its components collapses into the same area. A light plate may be added to the circuit board and meter movement. The light plate provides a structural framework for the indicating instrument. The circuit board and meter movement may be mounted to the light plate. In this manner, the internal components of the indicating instrument are all held together and can be calibrated and tested without the addition of any further components.

    摘要: An electromagnetic indicator capable of binary indication including a rotatably mounted semicircular flag assembly which can rotate between a first position ("set") and a second position ("fault") upon the receipt by the indicator of an electrical signal. A portion of the flag assembly is permanently magnetized and is magnetically latched in either the "set" or "fault" position by a magnetic latch which is preferably comprised of a bracket and core bar. The bracket has two ends which are positioned so that they are adjacent the magnetized portion of the flag assembly. The core bar is magnetically connected to an electromagnet and is also positioned adjacent a magnetized portion of the flag assembly. When the electromagnet is connected to the appropriate terminal of an electrical power source, the electromagnet generates a magnetic field, magnetizes the two ends of the bracket means and the core bar, and causes the flag assembly to flip from the "set" position to the "fault" position, or vice versa. After the electromagnet is disconnected from source, the flag assembly is magnetically latched in either the "set" or "fault" position by the magnetic attraction between the bracket, and the core bar on the one hand and the magnetized portion of the flag assembly on the other hand.

The warning device includes an arm pivotally mounted to a frame member and latched by an electromagnet in a non-warning mode. In the non-warning mode, a collapsible warning sign carrier is enclosed within an enclosure formed by the frame and the arm. When the supply of power is interrupted, the electromagnet releases the arm so that the arm pivots to a warning position.

    摘要: A fault indicator capable of being built in microminiature size comprises a rotatable indicating member having pivotal supports and containing visual markings for indicating the presence of one of two possible conditions in an operational system. The member which may be spherical is linked magnetically to a fixed part of the system by a permanent magnet which is embedded therein to magnetically interact with a fixed electromagnet. Electric current flowing in the coil of the electromagnet produces a mangetic field which directly actuates the indicator. A pair of juxtaposed housing units is provided, at least one unit of which contains journal recesses to receive the supports of the indicating member which supports are to be contained within the recesses by the facing edge of the other housing member. A promontory stop on the indicator limits its rotational angle. The indicator may be movably enclosed within a case attached to a fixed structure and pivoted with fixed magnetic means to set the rotatable member to a particular position, and a spring to return the indicator to an operating position after it has been moved to be actuated by the magnet.

    摘要: The indicator consists of a coil wrapped around an iron core and a visual target which is rotatably and displaceably supported and which contains a permanent magnet. Upon reversal of the magnetic field in the iron core produced by the coil, the permanent magnet of the visual target is repelled, rotated 180* by the magnetic forces and again attracted. The new position of the visual target is thereby fixed, even if current no longer flows through the coil.

    摘要: A magnetic disc with north and south poles and with alternating light and dark segments is rotatably mounted adjacent a stator having circumferentially spaced pole elements of like polarity near the respective north and south poles of the magnet. A translucent disc having circumferentially spaced light and dark segments matching the segments of the magnetic element is stationarily mounted over the magnetic element. When the magnetic element is in one position, the dark segments of the magnetic element underlie dark segments of the translucent disc and hence the over-all appearance is one of light and dark segments. When the stator is magnetized by energizing an electric coil mounted within it, the magnet is shifted rotatably a distance sufficient to have the dark segments of the magnet align with light segments of the translucent disc whereupon the over-all appearance of the device is completely dark in contrast with the appearance first mentioned. The difference in appearance is depended upon to indicate the energized or de-energized condition of an electric circuit connected to the coil.

    摘要: A two position indicating device including an indicator member in the form of a rotor that carries a single permanent magnet and is mounted for rotation between two limit positions which are determined by engagement of spaced-apart portions of the rotor with the end of a pole piece of a stationary electromagnet structure. The electromagnet structure comprises a combined bobbin and rotor support, the rotor support having two spaced ears and the rotor being rotatably mounted to the spaced ears by detent means comprising a hole in each ear and two pins carried by the rotor. Attachment and removal of the rotor is achieved by flexing the two ears apart far enough to release the two rotor pins. A coil is wound around the bobbin and terminal means are provided for energizing the coil to selectively establish first and second electromagnetic fields of opposite orientation for effecting movement of the rotor between its two limit positions.
