摘要: A separation alert device for warning a user of separation from an item includes a housing that defines an internal space. The housing is configured for retention on the user's person. A power module, a microprocessor, a first proximity sensor and a plurality of alarms are coupled to the housing and are positioned in the internal space. The microprocessor is operationally coupled to the power module. The first proximity sensor and the alarms are operationally coupled to the microprocessor. A second proximity sensor is in wireless communication with the microprocessor. The second proximity sensor is coupled to an item that the user desires to retain proximate to the user. The microprocessor is positioned to receive a location signal from the second proximity sensor. Separation of the first proximity sensor by a preset distance from the second proximity sensor will compel the microprocessor to compel the alarms to notify the user.

摘要: A method for tracking an object includes associating a beacon with a responder; transmitting a polling signal from the beacon to the responder; receiving a response from the responder; entering a low power state on the beacon for a predetermined duration; and transmitting an alert from the beacon responsive to a subsequent signal from the beacon failing to result in receiving a subsequent response from the responder. Embodiments also include a system in which the beacon and responder are configured to perform the described functions. In various embodiments, the duration during which the beacon remains in the low power state is predetermined based either on a default factory setting or a user adjustable setting.

摘要: An article anti-lost device comprises a plurality of sensors and a host. Each sensor comprises a recognition module and a sensor signal transceiver module. The host comprises a control module, a host signal transceiver module, a host warning module, an operation module and a display module. In an article anti-lost method, the host and the sensor are firstly paired, and then the sensor is combined with a to-be-monitored article and a warning distance is set. When a distance between the sensor and the host exceeds the warning distance, a warning signal is outputted, and an orientation and a distance of the sensor are prompted on the host. With the structure and the method, when the article leaves the user by a predetermined distance, the user can be reminded to prevent the article from getting lost or stolen.

摘要: The location of a transponder or micro-transponder (MT) device can be determined relative to a remote locator (RL) device. The RL transmits a multi-frame ping to the MT when initiated by a user. The MT receives the multi-frame ping, and transmits a multi-frame reply that can be hollowed out to conserve transmit power and reduce interference between devices. The RL calculates a distance between the RL and the MT using the time-of-flight (TOF) between the transmission of a ping and the receipt of a reply. The user designates one or more threshold ranges for the MT relative to the RL. The RL provides a user alert whenever the MT travels outside a threshold range. Alerts can be provided through a number of mechanisms including an audible alert, a visible alert, a vibrating alert, an email message, an SMS message, an instant message, a pager message, a telephone call, etc.

摘要: Method and apparatus to provide a wireless tether system is described. In one embodiment, one or more wireless tether apparatuses are in wireless communication with one or more base units. A wireless tether apparatus may be configured such that when separated from a base unit greater than a predetermined distance, such a wireless tether apparatus provides information to the user of the wireless tether apparatus to aid a user such as a human, animal, or machine in finding their way back to a desired location. A predetermined distance may be configured to change over time to accommodate different tether distance requirements at different times, e.g., closer to a home location at night and further away from the home location during the day. In one aspect, wireless tether apparatuses and base units communicate using a plurality of different communication modes such that when one mode fails other modes are utilized to reestablish a connection therebetween. In another aspect of the present invention, a plurality of wireless tether apparatuses are wirelessly tethered together such that individual proximities are maintained but still allow a plurality of wireless tether apparatus users to move about in an expanded range. In one aspect, a wireless tether system is employed such that one or more wireless tether apparatuses may be dynamically assigned to a plurality of base stations to allow changes to wireless tether apparatus locations and distances. In another aspect, when wireless tether apparatuses leave a predetermined tether distance, one or more alerts may be broadcast from the wireless tether apparatuses indicative thereof to other wireless signal receivers in proximity thereto not normally used as wireless tether signal receivers Users are located to determine if the user is within, or has departed from at least one bounded area established about a geographic location. The bounded area may be defined by setting one or more distance boundaries from the geographic location. A base station may monitor the location of a wireless device in proximity of the user. If the wireless device departs from a bounded area, a message containing information configured to be understandable and convey meaning to the user and/or a third-party is sent to the wireless device and/or the third-party. For example, the message may be configured to communicate to the user and/or third-party information pertaining to the departure from the bounded area, location information, navigation directions, instructions, etc. The message sent may include text and/or other symbols.
