    摘要: This document describes various techniques for implementing a wide field-of-view projector. A wide field-of-view projector may include a spatial light modulator configured to inject light rays into an input wedge. The input wedge acts to output the light rays with an increased fan-out angle. In an embodiment, the spatial light modulator is controlled to inject light rays into the input wedge effective to project an image from the surface of an output wedge that is positioned proximate, and receives light rays with an increased fan-out angle from, the input wedge.

    摘要: The invention comprises a pattern generation unit (20), a programmable lighting means and a holographic screen (28) that together make a holographic volumetric display. The holographic screen contains a pre-recorded set of volume elements or voxels (32) in three dimensional space outside the plane of the holographic screen. The holographic screen comprises a series of sub-holograms where each sub-hologram is associated with a voxel such that the voxel may be reconstructed when the sub-hologram is illuminated. A sub-hologram is a sampled hologram of a voxel and sub-holograms are spatially multiplexed and interleaved across the surface of the holographic screen. The programmable lighting means may be provided by a colour digital projected unit (28) and the pattern generation unit which can illuminate any number of sub-holograms on the holographic screen. In this way, a volumetric display with holographic voxels can be made. The holographic volumetric display can reconstruct three-dimensional moving images in colour.

    摘要: In order to change the number of light points and light intensities and to move positions of the light points in a real-time manner, an extremely large capacity of a memory is required. In a method according to the present invention, a memory (6) has previously stored therein data indicating a complex amplitude distribution of rays of incident light (L) on a hologram plate (4) and complex amplitude distributions on the hologram plate (4) in a case where the rays are beamed at respective points at which the rays can be beamed. The controller (5) calculates the complex amplitude distribution to be generated on the hologram plate (4) in order to generate a hologram pattern by respectively multiplying, by values indicating degrees of amplitudes of respective rays, complex amplitude distributions of rays of incident light (L) and m light points P1 through Pm to be displayed, and by calculating a sum of the values obtained by the multiplication through performing addition. The controller (5) controls the hologram plate (4) so as to configure a diffraction grating pattern corresponding to the calculated complex amplitude distribution.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to an improvement in a diffractive display suitable for presenting graphic and the like displays. Broadly, a novel embodiment is realized from a holographic diffraction pattern carried by a magnet or element and an electrically energizable coil magnetically coupled with said magnet that is energizable for movement of the magnet. Rotation of the holographic diffraction pattern generates a display using the diffracted light from the holographic diffraction grating. Another novel embodiment is realized from a faceted rotatable element (FRE) having an array of facets each bearing a diffraction grating and a source energizable for rotation of the FRE from a resting station to a viewing station. Rotation of the FRE generates a display using the diffracted light from the diffraction gratings.

    摘要: A display method for producing a plurality of different views of an object scene simultaneously is provided. A series of two-dimensional projections of an object is produced for the plane of a display device. Wavefront interference information, independent of the two-dimensional projections is produced for an intermediate plane. The two-dimensional projections and the wavefront interference information are combined to create a diffraction grating in the display device to provide a holographic image of the object scene from a number of positions relative to the display device.

    摘要: The invention relates to a holographic projection system wherein light modulator means SLM with electromechanically moved micro-mirrors modulate a light wave front LWmod. According to the invention, a hologram processor HP sets micro-mirror surfaces of prior art spatial light modulator which are disposed as controllable diffraction gratings on a substrate of a control circuit, such that they reach a certain diffraction grating amplitude, by moving them continuously at right angles to the substrate, said diffraction grating amplitude being dependent on the content of a sequence of video holograms. The diffraction grating modulate a light wave which is emitted by the light modulator means and which generates illumination capable of generating interference according to a phase hologram, so that the modulated light wave is used directly for the holographic reconstruction.
