    摘要: A discharging light quantity adjusting device includes a potential measurement controller that performs: a process of causing a first toner image forming process to charge an image holding member to a first potential and an electrometer to measure an electrostatic potential on the image holding member to obtain a first value, a process of causing a second toner image forming process to charge the image holding member to a second potential and removing a toner image formed by the second toner image forming process, and a process of causing a third toner image forming process to charge the image holding member to a third potential, and causing the electrometer to measure an electrostatic potential on the image holding member to obtain a second value; and a light quantity adjusting unit that adjusts a quantity of a discharging light based on the first and second values.

    摘要: In an image forming apparatus, a correction control unit of an image clock control unit controls the frequency of an image clock, so that the partial magnification of each position in an image region in which an image is formed is corrected in a main scanning direction that is a direction in which a laser beam scans a scanning region of one line. When controlling the frequency of the image clock, the correction control unit makes the change rate (the slope) that is a change amount of the image clock per unit time, be smaller in a non-image region being a region other than the image region, than the change rate in the image region.

    摘要: Apparatus and method for producing color-accented or otherwise edited reproductions of original documents with high productivity. Information of originals to be reproduced with, for example, color-accenting are highlighted on the originals with a marker pen or encircled with the highlight. The highlighted originals are serially passed during a copy run over an image scanner than is sensitive to the highlighted portions. The locations of the highlighted portions for each original are detected and stored in a bit map. In one embodiment an original is imaged onto two image frames of an electrostatically charged photoconductor. The photoconductor not being capable of distinguishing highlighted areas from background reproduces the electrostatic images through an optical exposure as if no highlighting is present. A selective erase element is provided to erase from one frame, areas on the original that were highlighted and to erase from the other frame, areas on the original that were not highlighted. The image frames are developed, each with a differently colored toner, and the developed areas transferred in register to a copy sheet to provide a reproduction with color accenting. In another embodiment the information is electronically scanned onto the photoconductor using an LED or laser light source and the appropriate image frames exposed in accordance with the highlighting on the documents.Highlighting of an original may also be used to indicate areas to be selectively screened, filled with a screen tint, areas to be deleted, or areas to be repositioned.

    摘要: A method for forming an outline of an image. In this method, at first, an electrostatic latent image bearing member is charged and then irradiated to a positive image to form an electrostatic latent image. Thereafter, the irradiated member is re-charged with a scorotron charger while applying a voltage to a grid, the voltage being lower than the surface potential of the image portion of the latent image, being slightly higher than the background potential of the latent image and being of the same polarity as that of the original charging. By this re-charging, the outline portion of the image is given higher potential than the other portion. Then, the outline portion of the image with higher potential is subjected to a normal development by using a toner charged to a polarity opposite to the polarity of the recharged portions.
