Abstract:
A display system includes a display alignment tracker configured track the position of a first signal and the position of a second signal. The display alignment tracker optically multiplexes a portion of a first signal and a portion of the second signal into a combined optical signal and measures a differential between the first signal and the second signal.
Abstract:
A wavelength selective switch includes: N input ports, an input-side fiber array, an input-side collimator array, an input-side beam deformation and polarization conversion component, an input-side wave-demultiplexing component, an input-side switching engine, a focusing transformation lens group, an output-side switching engine, an output-side wave-combining component, an output-side beam deformation and polarization conversion component, an output-side collimator array, an output-side fiber array, and M output ports. The focusing transformation lens group includes two identical aspheric convex lenses that are placed in parallel, where a curvature from a center to an edge of a surface of the aspheric convex lens changes continuously. A spatial position of the focusing transformation lens group and the curvature from the center to the edge of the surface are so set that light with different wavelengths from the input-side switching engine is focused to a corresponding position of the output-side switching engine respectively.
Abstract:
An optical device module includes a substrate, an interlayer insulating layer on the substrate, an optical waveguide on the interlayer insulating layer, an optical device on the optical waveguide, and a prism disposed between the optical device and the optical waveguide. The prism has a refractive index greater than a refractive index of the optical waveguide.
Abstract:
A diffraction grating and a prism with the appropriate characteristics are employed to provide a combined dispersive characteristic that is substantially linear over the visible spectrum. Radiation from the grating and prism is collimated by a lens towards a detector array. The grating or a telecentric stop between the grating and prism is placed at a focal point of the lens in a telecentric arrangement so that equal magnification is achieved at the detector array. If the detector array is replaced by a plurality of optical channels, a multiplexer/demultiplexer is obtained. A one or two dimensional detector array may be used for detecting the characteristics of a radiation beam. Alternatively, a one or two dimensional array of optical channels may be employed in a multiplexer or demultiplex arrangement with a single output/input optical channel.
Abstract:
An optical signal manipulation system including: a series of ports for carrying a series of optical signals to be manipulated; a spatial separating means for spatially separating at least a first and a second group of light from the series of optical signals; wavelength dispersion element subsequently spatially separating wavelengths of the first and second series; wavelength processing means for processing separated wavelengths of the first and second series.
Abstract:
The invention provides an optical mux/demux for an optical printed circuit board. The mux/demux comprises: a first waveguide formed on a support layer for carrying a wavelength division multiplexed optical signal; a separator/combiner for separating the wavelength division multiplexed signal into component signals of corresponding wavelengths or for combining component signals into the said wavelength division multiplexed signal; and plural second waveguides, each for receiving or providing one or more of the said component signals, wherein the separator/combiner is at a predetermined location relative to the waveguides.
Abstract:
An optical switch for routing arbitrary wavelengths between optical fibers in optical networks. The optical switch may include a highly wavelength dispersive element together with a spatially dispersive element to separate the wavelengths. Broadband switch inputs and outputs may be provided for adding and dropping arbitrary wavelengths at each node of the network. Fiber demultiplexers and multiplexers may also be used to reduce the impact of mirror array yield on switch functionality.
Abstract:
A wavelength selective optical switch particularly usable as a programmable N×M optical switch in a multi-wavelength communication system. The switch uses a grating that separates multi-channel optical signals into a plurality of optical channels, and combines a plurality of optical channels into multi-channel optical signals. Programmable mirrors switch each optical channel to any of a plurality of fibers coupled to the switch.
