摘要: The present invention provides novel apparatus and methods for fast quantitative measurement of perturbation of optical fields transmitted, reflected and/or scattered along a length of an optical fibre. The present invention can be used for point sensors as well as distributed sensors or the combination of both. In particular this technique can be applied to distributed sensors while extending dramatically the speed and sensitivity to allow the detection of acoustic perturbations anywhere along a length of an optical fibre while achieving fine spatial resolution. The present invention offers unique advantages in a broad range of acoustic sensing and imaging applications. Typical uses are for monitoring oil and gas wells such as for distributed flow metering and/or imaging, seismic imaging, monitoring long cables and pipelines, imaging within large vessel as well as for security applications.

摘要: Various downhole logging tools and methods of using and making the same are disclosed. In one aspect a method evaluating cement bond quality in a well is provided. In a well with a particular casing/tubing configuration, waveforms of acoustic energy returning from the tubing and the casing with the tubing present are recorded. A frequency spectrum from the recorded waveforms is determined. Amplitudes of the returning acoustic energy at one or more preselected frequency(s) of interest of a range of frequencies at which the amplitudes are noticeably affected by cement bond quality for the particular casing/tubing configuration are determined. The determined amplitudes are compared with one or more baseline amplitudes to look for indications of cement bond quality. Other aspects involve time domain analysis.

摘要: The present disclosure introduces an apparatus including a toolstring for use in a tubular extending into a subterranean formation. The toolstring includes modular components that include one or more caliper modules and a power and control (P/C) module. The one or more caliper modules each include radially rotatable fingers for sensing an internal diameter of the tubular. The P/C module is operable for distributing power and control signals to the one or more caliper modules. The caliper and P/C modules are mechanically and electrically interconnected by common lower interfaces of the caliper and P/C modules.

摘要: In an apparatus for multi-pole acoustic logging while drilling, a N-cycle sinusoidal wave signal is generated by utilizing a signal processor, and amplified into a high-voltage sinusoidal excitation signal by utilizing a power amplifier, and output to a transmitting transducer. The signal processor simultaneously generates an enable signal. The enable signal includes a transient discharge enable signal. The power amplifier is connected with a transient discharge circuit. After the signal processor generates N cycles of a sinusoidal wave, the transient discharge enable signal enables the transient discharge circuit to discharge to release an energy storage current of a power transformer so as to eliminate a high-voltage ringing effect and improve an excitation efficiency of the transducer.

In accordance with various embodiments, the fused-signal maps are combined across the frequency bins, with respective weightings that are based on eigenvalues of covariance matrices computed for the plurality of frequency bins. The combined maps can be used to locate an acoustic source in a wellbore.

摘要: An interrogation system may be coupled to a fiber-optic cable positioned in a wellbore to interrogate a plurality of optical sensors coupled to the fiber-optic cable. The interrogation system may include an optical frequency comb source having a plurality of narrowband optical carriers transmitting light to the plurality of optical sensors. Each of the plurality of optical sensors may include a pair of partial reflectors to reflect the light transmitted by the optical frequency comb to one or more optical receivers to receive the reflection signals In some aspects, the interrogation system may include a de-interleaver device for separating reflected light signals having adjacent wavelength into separate optical waveguides. In additional aspects, interrogation system may also include a data processing system having a processing device for performing interferometric measurements using the reflected light signals.

摘要: A method for performing a field operation within a geologic basin having rock formations and a reservoir that includes fluids includes generating, by forward modeling using a petroleum system model (PSM), an estimate of a fluid property distribution of a fluid within the reservoir of the geologic basin. The method further includes detecting, from fluid samples, a fluid property gradient within the geologic basin. The fluid samples are extracted from within at least one wellbore drilled through the rock formations. The method further includes, comparing the estimate of the fluid property distribution with the detected fluid property gradient to generate a comparison result, iteratively adjusting, based on the comparison result, the PSM to generate an adjusted PSM, and performing, based on the adjusted PSM, the field operation within the geologic basin.

摘要: Various embodiments include apparatus and methods to extract reflections from acoustic array data collected from a receiver array. A beam-former can be generated to detect a reflection wave in the presence of a direct wave identified from collected waveforms, where the beam-former can be correlated to receiver and depth for the array. The direct wave and the reflection wave can be separated to extract the reflection wave, where the separation is correlated to receiver and depth for the array. The extracted reflected wave can be used to image and/or analyze entities associated with the borehole. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.

摘要: A device, system, and method for locating collars along a casing string. The device includes a casing collar locator (CCL) and a valve in communication with the CCL connected to a work string. Fluid is pumped down the work string as the device is used to locate collars along a string. Upon detection of a collar, the CCL sends a signal to the valve, which causes the actuation of the valve to decreases a flow area within a work string. The decrease in flow area causes a pressure increase within the work string, which may be detected at the surface to indicate the detection of a collar. The device may include an amplifier and power source to amplify the signal from the CCL to the valve. The CCL may detect collars by a change in magnetic flux or by the detection of a signal emitted by individual collars.
