摘要: A multiple oil-emission device for hydrocarbon emissions in an exhaust-gas mixture, comprising an exhaust-gas probe, which has a transfer capillary, and a measurement channel, which has an ion source and a filter apparatus having a measuring apparatus. The transfer capillary has a drop-catching apparatus at the tip of the transfer capillary, which drop-catching apparatus comprises a short throttle segment and a transfer segment, which adjoins the throttle segment in a flow direction and is at least ten times longer. The measuring apparatus is connected to an analysing apparatus, which comprises a classifier for vaporous oil constituents and oil constituents in the form of drops. The classifier makes possible a differentiation between vaporous constituents and constituents in the form of drops, which makes robust and accurate determination possible regardless of the operating point because of the collection of constituents in the form of drops.

The signal is representative of a real-time measurement of the one or more engine oil parameters. The processor may also estimate the one or more engine oil parameters over time via an adaptive predictive model associated with the one or more engine oil parameters to generate estimated data and reconcile the real-time measurement and the estimated data to generate an integrated engine oil degradation model and predict engine oil remaining useful life based on the integrated engine oil degradation model and one or more condemn limits associated with the one or more engine oil parameters.

摘要: Automatic octane measurements are made very rapidly with standard test engine using an all-electronic control that automatically lowers the fuel-air ratio to bring the knock intensity below standard, then automatically adjusts the compression to bring the knock intensity to standard, then intermittently increases the fuel-air ratio, after the first or second intermittent increase permits automatic compensatory compression changes only in the decreasing direction to compensate for departures from standard knock intensity and conducts these compensatory compression changes at a rate too slow for adequate compensation if the fuel-air ratio increase causes a substantial increase in knock intensity, and then indicating the compression ratio reading after the knock intensity remains standard during two to four successive fuel-air ratio increases. Maximum knock fuel-air ratio is indicated by subsequently automatically lowering the fuel-air ratio an amount corresponding to the fuel-air ratio increases during which knock intensity remained at standard. Finally for some purposes the test engine can be permitted to stabilize at the maximum knock fuel-air ratio. Electronic memory can be used to translate compression ratio to octane number, and barometric correction can be made electronically.

摘要: Liquid fuels have their knock characteristics monitored by knock test engine operating alternately on the fuel to be tested and on a reference fuel. The difference in knock intensities can be used to control the in-line blending of the test fuel. Test engine has carburetor with fuel-level-determining device to which stream of test fuel is continuously fed faster than required by engine, excess fuel is diverted away from engine by overflow or suction take-off. Fuels can be cooled on way to engine. Compression ratio of knock test engine and/or signal indicator can have automatic adjustment when engine operates on reference fuel so as not to require attention of an operator.
