    摘要: A net oil computer including a vibration densitometer and a turbine flowmeter. The flowmeter produces output pulses at a frequency directly proportional to the rate of volume flow through a pipeline. The output of the flowmeter is impressed upon the pole of a single pole, double throw electronic switch. One switch contact is connected to an indicator through a divider, a driver amplifier and a counter. The other contact is also connected to an indicator through a divider, a driver amplifier and a counter. The switch is operated by a gate generator connected from the densitometer. The gate generator produces an output pulse of a pulse width directly proportional to the percent of oil or water in the pipeline. A temperature probe is inserted in the line to vary the pulse width in accordance with oil temperature. The densitometer has an improved magnetostrictive drive which is controlled to have a phase proper for maximum resonance. The densitometer is also provided with a self-start circuit to find resonance automatically. A synchronous detector detects resonance and automatically turns the self-start circuit off.

    摘要: A gravitometer incorporating two ferromagnetic cantilevered vanes simultaneously vibrated by a spaced ferromagnetic driver at their respective same or different frequencies. The driver provides a field reversal which produces a double frequency at two respective piezoelectric crystal pickups fixed to the respective vanes. Two respective divide-by-two dividers cause the driver to produce a synchronous field drive so that the apparatus forms two combined closed loop electromechanical oscillators, the loops having amplifiers with respective gains adequate to sustain vibrations of both vanes continuously.

    摘要: A densitometer which utilizes a thin vane vibrated by a magnetostrictive tube. A piezoelectric crystal pickup feeds an amplifier and tracking filter to energize a coil around the magnetostrictive tube. The device is, in effect, an electromagnetic oscillator in that the coil is driven in phase with the detected signal. Vibration thus increases in amplitude until limited electrically. A linearization circuit provides an output D.C. voltage directly proportional to fluid density, gas, or liquid, which may be impressed upon a conventional D.C. voltmeter calibrated linearly in density. A great many features, both in the mechanical structure and in the electronics, make it possible to easily calibrate the instrument to read, for example, to within an accuracy tolerance of + OR - 0.01 percent over a fluid density range of, for example, from about 0.08 pounds per cubic foot to 80.0 pounds per cubic foot. Another outstanding advantage of the invention relates to a probe type construction which may be used in a pipeline of any size.

The flowmeters incorporate gravitometers having vibration densitometers including spring metal ferromagnetic cantilevered vanes which vibrate when driven. A thermally conductive housing stores heat and equalizes the temperature between a gas of interest and air. The air is kept dry by a desiccator. The gas is circulated through a first chamber in the housing containing one vane. Air occupies a second chamber having another vane therein. Both chambers are vented to the atmosphere.
