    摘要: A pyrotechnic initiator with an inherent out-of-line safe/arm feature. The initiator is comprised of a solenoid striker, a diaphragm located between a source of gas vapor and the striker, a secondary explosive, and an igniter. The solenoid punctures the diaphragm allowing the contents from the source of gas vapor to pass into an explosive chamber where a voltage from the igniter ignites the gas. The explosion caused thereby initiates the secondary explosive which produces the desired explosive output.

    摘要: A pneumatically operated fuze utilizing the force of the missile ejection position to break the hermetic seal and unlock the arming mechanism. The hermetic seal is a membrane covering the housing in which the fuze is mounted. The locking means are brackets which are straightened by the downward movement of the ejection piston. A bellows is then exposed to the dynamic pressure and expands causing the arming mechanism to arm.

    摘要: A delay release device that connects to an aerosol filled canister that releases the aerosol in a delayed manner. The device includes a main body with a first plunger assembly mounted on one end. Formed adjacent to the first plunger assembly is a first chamber filled with a compressed gas pressurized from 40 to 150 psi based on the time delay desired. In the main body adjacent to the first chamber is a second chamber and a third chamber. Located inside the third chamber is a second plunger with a hollow stem introduced into a top valve assembly on the canister. To activate, the first plunger assembly is pressed inward which activates a second valve disposed between the first and second chambers. The second valve allows compressed gas to flow slowly from the first chamber into the second chamber and into the third chamber. The increased air pressure in the upper portion of the third chamber exerts a downward force on the second plunger which forces the hollow stem into canister and causes the aerosol gas to be released into a lower discharge chamber and then through holes formed on the main body.

    摘要: A parachute flare igniter assembly includes a novel safety for arresting the motion of a slider when subjected to external forces, but allows slider motion when subjected to intended cable actuation forces. The igniter safety includes a housing, a slider, a cable and a sleeve. The slider, connected to the cable, is slidably received within the housing. The cable moves the slider by applying a cable force conventionally obtained by actuation of a parachute associated with the flare and connected to an end of the cable opposite an end connected to the slider. The sleeve is connected to the cable and is disposed between the housing and the slider, so that the sleeve will arrest the slider with respect to the housing when the cable force is not present. A flare and a method of providing a safety in an igniter assembly is also provided.
