    摘要: A method of prolonging the life of a carbon anode ring furnace is disclosed wherein portions of the confronting refractory brick flue walls of the furnace which have partly collapsed can be readily straightened. The refractory bricks of the collapsed portion of a flue wall are urged back into the plane of the wall by interposing a hydraulic jack between the closely spaced flue walls and actuating the jack to apply opposing forces to the wall. The jack is positioned and actuated in a number of locations corresponding to a predetermined circular pattern about a deformation zone to successively reduce the deviation of the bricks of the deformation zone. A tie brick is thereafter inserted between the walls to maintain them in their normal spaced relation.

    摘要: An electric furnace (1), particularly for the heat treatment of workpieces constituting a charge (22) to be treated, concludes an outer casing (2) having two complementary parts adapted to be coupled and movable relative to one another, and, in said casing, at least one support (23) for the charge to be treated and at least one electric heating element (3). The furnace has at least two parts (1a, 1b), the first (1b) of which includes the support (23) for the charge (22) to be treated and a first part (6) of the outer casing (2), and the second (1a) of which includes the second part (5) of the outer casing (2) and a movable support (13, 14, 15) for permitting the two parts (1a, 1b) to move relative to one another. The first and second parts of the outer casing extend respectively over a part of the periphery of the charge to be treated in such a manner that the edges of the second part (5) thereof are outside the path of the charge to be treated. The second part (5) of the outer casing (2) extends, in the coupled position, above the charge to be treated, so as to free the vertical access to the charge support when said parts (1a, 1b) of the furnace are uncoupled.

    摘要: In a setting machine for spacing formed articles a conveyor belt provides closely spaced green bricks in longitudinal rows. The longitudinal rows are transferred to a setting support collecting the green bricks as a compact setting or a partial setting of several parallel longitudinal rows or of one longitudinal row. The setting support comprises spaced rollers and carrying strips between the rollers and capable of moving in the direction of the roller axes. Each carrying strip is subdivided into spaced apart sections which are linked to lift cylinders moving them up and down independently. The lift cylinders are mounted on a carriage movable in the direction of the roller axes and which carries along the sections. The sections can lift up the green bricks from the rollers, the carriage can then move and after sufficient distance is reached the green bricks are lowered onto the rollers. The thus provided setting can be removed onto a conveyor or can be lifted by grippers.

    摘要: An elongated, horizontal tunnel-type furnace for heat treating workpieces carried in succession therethrough. The furnace is of modular construction and comprises a series of contiguous individual modular sections that define a tunnel-type enclosure. Each modular section comprises a stationary lower enclosure section and an assembled vertically retractable upper enclosure section. The upper enclosure sections are supported along opposite sides by a plurality of spaced, free-standing lifting devices. A screw-jack is associated with each lifting device for raising and lowering the upper enclosure sections relative to the lower enclosure sections. The upper enclosure sections may be raised and lowered individually or joined together and moved as a unit.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for maintaining the lining of a furnace shell (1) comprising a bottom and a side wall and supported by a floor (2). The shell (1) is composed of two parts adapted to be separated and constituting respectively a bottom (11) and a cooled side wall (12). The side wall (12) is supported directly on a work floor (2) and the bottom (11) on a support (5) movable vertically between an upper operating position of the bottom (11), in line with the side wall (12), and a lower position. After the bottom (11) has been lowered into the lower position, it is moved out of the axis (10) of the furnace to a maintenance station, from which a new bottom (11') is then brought into the lower position, in the axis (10) of the furnace, in order finally to be raised to the upper operating position. The invention applies particularly to arc melting furnaces for steel production.
