Abstract:
A method for operating a refrigerator having a driving assembly and an ice storage bin. The driving assembly is releasably engageable with the ice storage bin. The driving assembly has a motor fork. The ice storage bin supports an axle, to which a coupler is secured. The method includes engaging the motor fork with the coupler secured, rotating the motor fork in a first direction based on a user's input, and rotating the motor fork in a second direction opposite to the first direction for a predetermined time or by a predetermined angle at the end of the user's input.
Abstract:
An auger type ice machine in which the load on a geared motor and an upper bearing is mitigated by detecting the load on an auger. A geared motor 9 is disposed below a cylinder 1. A rotor 12 of the geared motor has an output shaft 13. A pulse encoder 14 is provided on the output shaft 13. The geared motor 9is connected with a geared motor power supply 16 through a relay 15. Similarly, a compressor 3 is connected with a compressor power supply 18 through a relay 17. The relays 15 and 17 are controlled by a control portion 19. The control portion 19 controls the relays 15 and 17 according to a signal inputted from the pulse encoder 14.
Abstract:
A method for operating a fan of a nugget ice maker is provided. The method includes monitoring a speed of an auger of the nugget ice maker while a motor of the nugget ice maker rotates the auger and the fan of the nugget ice maker runs at a stored speed. A speed of the fan is increased when the speed of the auger stabilizes.
Abstract:
A refrigerator including a main body having a storage compartment; a door rotatably coupled to the main body to open or close the storage compartment; and an icemaker and an ice bucket configured to store ice cubes produced by the icemaker. The ice bucket is provided with a feeding device to feed the ice cubes stored therein. The main body includes a driving device configured to drive the feeding device. When the door is closed, the driving device is connected to the feeding device, and when the door is opened, the driving device is disconnected from the feeding device.
Abstract:
A refrigerator including an icemaker and an ice bucket provided at a door, a feeding unit to feed ice cubes stored in the ice bucket, a driving motor provided at a main body to drive the feeding unit, and a coupling device to transmit driving force from the driving motor to the feeding unit. When the door is closed, the driving motor is connected to the feeding unit. When the door is opened, the driving motor is disconnected from the feeding unit. Accordingly, the door has a simple structure, the ice bucket has an increased capacity, repair or replacement of the driving motor is easily achieved. The coupling device includes a first coupling unit and a second coupling unit which is engaged with the first coupling unit to receive driving force. The coupling device is configured to hide the coupling units when the door is opened.

Abstract:
An ice maker includes a casing that defines a chamber. The casing extends between a top portion and a bottom portion. An extruder die is mounted to the casing at the top portion of the casing. A motor is positioned above the extruder die. An auger is disposed within the chamber of the casing. The auger is coupled to a shaft of the motor with a threaded connection such that the auger is rotatable with the motor along a rotational direction within the chamber of the casing. The threaded connection between the auger and the shaft of the motor is wound opposite the rotational direction of the auger. A related refrigerator appliance is also provided.
