摘要: The ignition characteristics of a fuel are adjusted using a unit which has a distribution zone, a oxidation zone and a conversion zone. Fuel is distributed in the distribution zone having a distribution structure. A portion of the fuel is oxidised in the oxidation zone with a oxidising agent on a catalyst on a catalyst carrier, and a portion of the distributed fuel and/or of another supplied fuel is thermally and/or catalytically converted in the conversion zone. The ignition characteristics of the fuel are adjusted via: the molar ratio of oxygen included in the oxidising agent to the oxygen required for the complete oxidation of the fuel provided; and/or via the pressure in the unit; and/or the dwell time; and/or the temperature. Exhaust emissions, in particular NOx and soot emissions, can be lowered.

摘要: A fluid heater comprises an enclosed combustion chamber, at least one burner operatively coupled to the enclosed combustion chamber and a heat transfer section. The heat transfer section has a first end operatively coupled to the enclosed combustion chamber, a second end, an outer wall defining a closed chamber therein, a fluid inlet port coupled to the outer wall in fluid communication with the chamber and a fluid outlet port coupled to the outer wall in fluid communication with the chamber. A plurality of tubes have an opened first end, an opposite opened second end and a chamber extending therebetween, wherein the plurality of tubes are mounted within the heat transfer section so that an outside wall of each of the plurality of tubes and an inside wall of the heat transfer section define the closed chamber. Each of the tube chambers are in fluid communication with the enclosed combustion chamber. A negative pressure source is operatively coupled to the heat transfer section second end and is in fluid communication with each of the plurality of tube chambers, where a continuous flow of hot fluid is produced at the heat transfer section fluid outlet port.

摘要: A liquid fuel lamp design is disclosed, consisting of a length of wick housed within a vertical wick tube equipped with an upwardly-extending handle, which wick tube assembly is seated resealably within a funnel-shaped fuel aperture extending upward from a low wide fuel reservoir, atop which is securely affixed a lamp chimney of such dimension as to assure a high degree of isolation of the lamp flame and exhaust vapors above 451 F degrees from non-vapor combustibles in the lamp environment. The invention relies on a novel liquid fuel lamp filling system, whereby the wick tube may be equipped with a bushing and cap to resealably close the fuel aperture, and is removed and replaced by its upwardly extended handle via the chimney's upper opening to allow refilling and maintenance. The wick tube and fuel reservoir are configured so as to efficiently burn liquid fuels, especially viscous fuels, and in particular vegetable oils as fuel. The inner base of the lamp chimney accommodates non-flammable liquid fragrances such that while the lamp is burning, heat from the flame volatizes the fragrance and disperses it upon the column of hot vapor rising from the lamp chimney. The entire device is highly spill-resistant, constructed durably, and equipped with articulations to accommodate lamp accessories. A device for conveniently attaching and removing such accessories is also disclosed.

摘要: A method and device for combustion of liquid fuels is presented which uses a plurality of rotating hydrogen flames to blast atomize and ignite a mechanically dispersed stream of the liquid fuel. This combustion method and device are particularly suited for heavy oil fuels, such as vegetable oils, which are not well burned using conventional burner technologies. This combustion method involves establishing a zone of combusting hydrogen and projecting a mechanically atomized dispersion of the liquid fuel into and through this zone of combusting hydrogen. The combusting hydrogen partially vaporizes and ignites the liquid fuel while the intense turbulence of the hydrogen combustion zone further disperses any remaining liquid fuel droplets. Once ignited and dispersed, the fuel oil continues to burn as it moves away from the hydrogen combustion zone. Since only a small amount of combusting hydrogen is utilized, the hydrogen can be generated by the electrolysis of water, which produces a 2:1 molar ratio of hydrogen and oxygen, or hydroxy, gas. The device implementing this combustion method is comprised of a AC motor connected to a solid shaft into which a plurality of fuel transport tubes are bored. A series of chambers are formed around the rotating shaft to stage the fuel oil and hydroxy gas. A forward chamber is located nearest to the flame area to provide cooling and insulation of the middle hydrogen staging chamber. The fuel oil transport tube has one end on the surface of the shaft which opens into the fuel oil chamber. The other end is fitted with an atomizing nozzle which discharges into the combusting hydrogen zone. Each of the hydroxy gas transport tubes has one end on the surface of the shaft which opens into the hydroxy gas chamber and another end fitted with an angled tube that directs the gas back toward the axis of rotation. Multiple chambers can used to inject other liquid or gaseous streams into the combustion zone as desired. The burner is capable of economically producing heat energy using only vegetable oil, water and power input, which allows it to qualify as an all-renewable energy device.

The small clearance portion is nallower than the front and the rear portions of the passage so as to function as an atomizer.

摘要: Improved combustion efficiency is achieved by separately preparing a water-in-oil emulsion, containing up to about 90 volume % water, and blending the emulsion into an oil fuel prior to combustion. The blended oil fuel contains from 1 to about 10 vol. % water in the form of tiny droplets having a diameter within the range from about 1 to about 10 microns. The process of this invention may be applied to heating systems, steam boilers, gas turbines, rotary kilns, and internal combustion engines, including diesel engines.
