Abstract:
A pipe coupling for coupling a first pipe to a second pipe wherein a gap exists between a first pipe end and a second pipe end. The pipe coupling includes a tubular insert configured to fit within the gap and match an inside diameter and outside diameter of the pipes, thereby providing a through-butt joint between the insert and the pipes. The pipe coupling also includes a half-tubular first fitting section and a half-tubular second fitting section, configured to snap-lock and form a tubular shape over the insert, the first pipe end and the second pipe end. In some embodiments, the insert is integral with the fitting sections.
Abstract:
A snap fitting for use in plumbing is provided. The snap fitting includes a main body formed of plastic and shaped to extend partially around a cylindrical pipe to snap over the pipe and an inset for extending from an interior side of the main body into a hole in the cylindrical pipe.
Abstract:
Pipelines in operation specifically the ones operating under high pressures are subject to structural deficiencies therefore, they are susceptible to leakage. The present disclosure relates to a pipeline-leak-containment apparatus comprising an elongate tubular containment wall and at least a first clamp and a second clamp sealingly engaging a section of a pipe to form a sealed interstitial space between the elongate tubular containment wall and the pipe. The tubular containment wall comprises an inner layer, a reinforcement layer and an outer layer. Each clamp comprises an inner clamp, and an outer clamp, wherein at least the inner layer at each end of the elongate tubular containment wall is sealingly sandwiched between the inner clamp and the outer clamp of each clamp. Inner and outer clamps are split clamps that sealingly engage the pipe upon tightening of fastening members.
Abstract:
A device and method for sealing a leak in a pipe. The device includes a sealing component that is placed against a pipe outer surface and over the leak. A clamp extending from the sealing component clamps partially around a circumference of the pipe and pulls the sealing component against the pipe. A vent in combination with the sealing member releases leaking gas through or around the sealing component while the sealing component is being secured to the pipe. The vent is then closed after full clamping is completed.
Abstract:
A repair tool for use in repairing a break in a water main pipe comprises a saddle member which includes a downward facing pipe-engaging surface that is configured to conform to an outer diameter surface of the pipe, a sealing member which is attached to the pipe-engaging surface and is configured to seal between the saddle member and the pipe, a brace member which is connected to the saddle member and includes first and second end portions, first and second arm members, each of which is pivotally connected to a corresponding end portion and each of which comprises an upper end portion that extends upwardly from the brace member and a lower end portion that extends downwardly from the brace member and inwardly toward the other arm member, and a clamping arrangement connected between the upper end portions for moving the upper end portions toward and away from each other to thereby move the lower end portions away and toward each other, respectively. In use of the repair tool the saddle member is positioned over the break and the clamping arrangement is operated to move the lower end portions towards each other and into engagement with a portion of the pipe located opposite the saddle member in order to secure the saddle member to the pipe and thereby seal the break.
Abstract:
A pipe sealing apparatus, such as a split sleeve clamp, has a body including a first body portion and a second body portion. Each body portion includes axially extending flanges having bores for receiving bolts and nuts to secure the body portions together. The apparatus includes a seal arrangement, a lock arrangement, and an actuation arrangement including an actuation member configured to both actuate the seal arrangement and activate the lock arrangement. The lock arrangement is carried by the actuation member of the actuation arrangement.
Abstract:
A system and method of sealing leaks in process piping and equipment without process shutdown by providing a clamp having a cavity surrounding a leaking structure, sealant equipment comprising an injection gun to inject a sealant into the clamp cavity, means for pressuring moldable sealant from the gun into the clamp cavity in a staged manner beginning at a point away from the leak site. The preferred sealant comprises a moldable nitrile rubber delayed curing (vulcanizing) formulation or composition molded into shapes for insertion into an injection gun.
Abstract:
A method of repairing a polyolefin structure at a damaged area thereof containing applying a filler material as necessary to fill the damaged area, overlaying the filled damaged area with a transitional film having a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins, bonding the transitional film to the polyolefin structure, and applying a reinforcement system over the transitional film. The bonding of the transitional film to the polyolefin structure comprises applying heat to the transitional film.A repair system for repairing a polyolefin structure containing optionally a filler material on the polyolefin structure, a transitional film applied over and bonded to the polyolefin structure having a first side adapted to bond to polyolefins, and a reinforcement system, applied over the transitional film. The reinforcement system contains a fiber-reinforced polyurethane system bonded to the second side of the transitional film.
