Abstract:
A protective ring for a sealing arrangement of a bearing bushing of a journal cross assembly is disclosed. The protective ring has an annular sleeve segment, which is concentric to a longitudinal axis, an annular seat segment which extends radially inward at a rear axial end of the sleeve segment, and at least one protrusion, which protrudes radially inward at a front axial end region of the sleeve segment. The protective ring also has a plurality of webs, which are distributed over the circumference and which protrude axially from the seat segment and are arranged inside the sleeve segment.
Abstract:
A pin is made of a synthetic resin having an appropriate thermal expansion rate and a low friction coefficient. At a state where respective members configuring a cross shaft universal joint are assembled, a tip portion of the pin is heated and softened, and one yoke is pivotally displaced relative to other yoke. Thereby, it is possible to set a fitting margin of the pin to a bottom inner surface of a bearing cup to an appropriate size and to adjust a shape of an end surface of the pin.
Abstract:
A seal, which has a core with a radially outwardly extending flange with an end surface and a sealing body with a sealing lip and an over-molded portion that extends radially outward beyond the flange and encompasses the end surface of the flange. Also, a bearing arrangement is disclosed which includes a bearing cup that has a counterbore with a conical inner surface, and a seal, which is contactable with the bearing cup, and has a core with a radially outwardly extending flange with an end surface and a sealing body with a sealing lip and an over-molded portion which extends radially outwardly beyond the flange and encompasses the end surface of the flange. The seal can be press-fit with the bearing cup such that the over-molded portion and the conical inner surface of the bearing cup are in tight contact with each other and form a static seal.
Abstract:
A secured bearing arrangement for at least one journal of a universal joint, said journal being rotatable about an axis of rotation while being mounted in a housing. The bearing arrangement comprises at least one universal joint housing that is provided with at least one bore which extends in the direction of an axis and has an internal surface as a bearing surface. A bearing bush which has a bearing axis and inside which the journal is mounted so as to be rotatable about its axis or rotation, is mounted on the internal surface within the bore. A securing element allows the bearing bush to be secured within the bore in one axial direction of the bearing axis, said one axial direction facing away from the journal. The securing element is disposed between the mounted bearing bush and the universal joint housing in a radial direction of the bearing axis while being connected to the universal joint housing between the mounted bearing bush and the universal joint housing.
Abstract:
An outer ring 6a for a shell-type radial needle bearing having a cylindrical shape with a bottom is achieved for which fatigue life of the bottom plate section 9a and the continuous section between the bottom plate section 9a and the cylindrical section 8a is improved, as well as the anti-corrosion characteristic of the outer ring 6a is improved and the outer ring 6a can be prevented from coming out of the bearing without an increase in cost. After obtaining an intermediate raw material 35 having a cylindrical section and a bottom plate section from a metal raw material, shot peening is performed on the intermediate material 35 to create residual compressive stress in the surface and surface layer section on the outer surface side of the cylindrical section 8a and the bottom plate section 9a such that the residual compressive stress in the surface layer section on the outer surface side is greater than the in the surface layer section on the inner surface side, and from the surface to a depth of 0.03 mm is 700 MPa to 1600 MPa.
Abstract:
To prevent damage and malfunction, a sealing device for a universal joint has a metal ring (11) fitted on the outer peripheral surface of a shaft portion (111) of a cruciform spider (110) of the universal joint, and inner seal lips (12, 13) and an outer seal lip (14) made of a rubber-like elastic material and provided integrally with the metal ring (11), the inner seal lips (12, 13) slidably contact with the inner peripheral surface of an end of an outer ring (121) of a bearing (120) relatively rotatably supporting the shaft portion (111), the outer seal lip (14) slidably contact with a rising surface (112a) of a boss portion (112) of the cruciform spider (110), and the rising surface (112a) is a surface rising, outside the position where the metal ring (11) is fitted, in an outward radial direction from the shaft portion (111).
Abstract:
A universal joint that includes a spider, which has a trunnion, a bearing cup, a bearing, which is disposed between the trunnion and the bearing cup, and a seal assembly. The seal assembly has a first portion, which is engaged to the spider, and a second portion that sealingly engages the bearing cup and the first portion. The first portion can include features that limit axial movement of the second portion relative to the first portion.
Abstract:
A universal joint or a pivot pin cross with a universal joint pivot pin. The universal joint pivot pin is fastened a bearing bush seal and absorbs an axially directed force. A universal joint is to be provided which is simple and can be manufactured inexpensively, which makes no compromises with respect to the sealing effect. For this purpose, a bearing bush seal is provided which deflects an axially directed force into a radial direction. This makes an axial stop at the universal joint pivot pin unnecessary. Moreover, pivot pin are accomplished in a single manufacturing step.
Abstract:
A universal joint having a spider provided with four staggered journals. A socket having an axial bearing in addition to a radial bearing is associated with each journal. The axial bearing has rolling bodies that are guided between a front surface of the journal and the bottom of the universal joint socket.
Abstract:
A cross joint is provided which is adapted to prevent a shaft portion and rollers from being damaged when a bearing cup having the rollers on an inner periphery thereof is assembled to a cross shaft. The cross joint includes: a cross shaft 1 including four shaft portions 3; a closed-end cylindrical bearing cup 5; and plural needle rollers 6 having the first end portions thereof located on an opening side of the bearing cup 5 and arranged along the raceway surface of the bearing cup 5. An inner periphery of the bearing cup 5 includes a tapered surface portion. 11 increased in diameter toward the opening side. When the plural needle rollers 6 arranged along the inner periphery of the bearing cup 5 are fitted about the shaft portion 3, the tapered surface portion 11 allows the needle rollers 6 to incline as shifting the first end portions radially outwardly.
