An aerostatic bearing includes a base having a foundation layer and a plurality of ventilation bodies protruding from the foundation layer, the ventilation bodies being made of a porous material; and a sealing layer covering the base and revealing at least one of the ventilation bodies.

A rolling bearing comprising a rolling bearing cage having a plurality of rolling element pockets arranged in at least one row to receive at least one row of rolling elements, two lateral rings and a plurality of crosspieces connecting the two lateral rings, such that the plurality of rolling element pockets are formed between the plurality of crosspieces, and at least one empty pocket. The rolling bearing cage includes fewer rolling elements in the at least one row than the number of rolling element pockets, such that the at least one empty pocket does not receive a rolling element. A method for producing a rolling bearing cage is also provided.

A bearing (100) has a contact surface (110) for mating with a rotatable member. The contact surface has a plurality of crystalline grains (120) distributed at random; a plurality of micro-grooves (130) are formed among the crystalline grains; the micro-grooves communicate with each other thereby forming a net. The micro-grooves accommodate lubricant therein so that when the rotatable member rotates, a sufficient lubrication can be obtained between the bearing and the rotatable member. The bearing is formed by machining and then thermally etching a preform which is formed by powder metallurgy.

Disclosed herein is a method of manufacturing a hydrodynamic bearing in which a metal bearing made of sintered metal powder is internally subjected to chemical etching, to form hydrodynamic pressure grooves thereon, thus assuring a high-precision and reliable hydrodynamic bearing. The method includes: compressing metal powder that is a raw material of the bearing in a press unit, and sintering the compressed metal powder at a predetermined temperature, thus preparing a sintered bearing; removing foreign substances adhering to the sintered bearing through a deburring process, and pressing the sintered bearing into a desired shape; forming a hydrodynamic groove, configured to generate hydrodynamic pressure, on an internal surface of the shaped bearing using chemical etching; and conducting a post treatment of cleaning the bearing including the hydrodynamic grooves thereon and drying the bearing.

A plate-like material is pressed and a middle concave portion centered on a center axis is formed in one axial surface of the material. Likely, an annular concave portion centered on a center axis and radially outwardly arranged is formed in one and/or the other axial surface of the material. The material is then cut along a radially outer rim of the middle concave portion, and between a radially outer rim and a radially inner rim of the annular concave portion. In this way, a thrust plate having indented portions at radially inside and outside portion of the one and/or the other axial surface thereof is manufactured. A burr formed in press working is accommodate within the indented portion and does not axially protrude from the one and/or the other axial surface of the thrust plate.

The invention relates to a plain bearing composite material with a supporting layer made of a copper alloy, and with a lining applied to the bearing metal layer. The copper alloy can contain 0.5-5% by weight of nickel, 0.2 to 2.5% by weight of silicon and=0.1% by weight of lead. The lining can be a sputtered layer that is applied without an intermediate layer. The invention also relates to methods for producing this composite material.
