    摘要: A counter-current apparatus uses solid blocks to carry mass or heat storage medium to opposite sides of mass and heat transfer operations. The blocks are pushed incrementally through two channels. The energy of sensible heat or mass of selected species from a first fluid stream transfers into the solid blocks in a first channel and is stored in the solid storage medium within. Those solid blocks loaded with energy or specific mass from the first channel are pushed to a second channel in which the energy or specific mass stored within is released to a second fluid stream. The solid blocks in the second channel are pushed back into the first channel, continuing the heat transfer or mass transfer cycle. Counter-current flows of the fluid phase and the solid phase are achieved in both channels, for a combined adsorption and desorption cycle, or a combined heating and cooling cycle.

    摘要: A fairing (1) for improving fluid flow around a circular-cylindrical object comprises a first fairing-element (11) and a second fairing-element (12), which are releasable relative to one another. The fairing-elements are easy to manufacture, compactly stackable, and easy to install around the object. In installed condition, the first fairing-element and the second fairing-element are mutually connected in circumferential direction of the fairing, while forming a twin-fin fairing, which reduces vortex-induced vibrations around the object, while providing favourable flow resistance, and without performing galloping motions.

The cable defines an outer surface (102) onto which at least one strake (104) forms a protrusion for reducing rain and wind induced vibrations. The strake has a height being a distance from a strake root part connected to the outer surface of the cable and a strake end part terminating the strake outwards away from the cable, and the strake has a width being transverse to the height, the width decreasing in the direction from the strake root part towards the strake end part. The height is less than 5 percent of the diameter of the cable. Furthermore, the strake comprises a first strake surface portion facing away from the cable, which first strake surface portion is concave or straight.
