The hydraulic wave energy converter can convert the vertical component and the horizontal component of the wave motion into high-pressure water energy for impacting a hydraulic generator set to generate power, and is lower in cost, simple in maintenance and high in wave energy conversion efficiency.

    摘要: A wave power capture system includes a double acting piston arrangement in which reciprocation of the piston arrangement as a result of wave action to causes hydraulic fluid to be pumped into a hydraulic supply to a hydraulic motor and the flow and differential pressure of the double acting piston may be different to the flow and differential pressure provided to the hydraulic supply and that such difference is variable. Various ways in which this is achieved are described including: a duct access to which is controlled by a valve connected between the outputs of the reciprocation double acting piston arrangement; a double headed piston in a cylinder with one end of the cylinder hydraulically connected to one output of the reciprocating double acting piston arrangement and the other end the cylinder to the other output of the double acting piston arrangement: one or more pairs of piston operated pressure intensifiers, the low pressure side of one of each of the pairs of pressure intensifiers being connected hydraulically to one output the double acting piston arrangement and the low pressure side of the other of each of said pairs connected hydraulically to the other output of the double acting piston arrangement, and the high pressure side of each pair of pressure intensifiers being connected through one way check valves to the hydraulic supply of said hydraulic motor and wherein the rods of the pairs of intensifiers are connected together to that they drive one another and wherein one charges from its low pressure input and supplies a higher pressure output, while the other returns an uncharged position; or a combination of the above. Alternatively a variable hydraulic intensifier may be employed.

    摘要: A closed-loop hydraulic apparatus 200 for converting wave energy comprises a pump 201 for pumping a fluid through the apparatus 200. The pump 201 includes a body 202 defining a chamber 203, and a piston 207 that partitions the chamber 203 into a working side 208 and a blind side 209. A buoyant actuator is connected to the piston 207. An inlet 64 is connected to the working side 208 of the chamber 203 so that the fluid is able to flow from the inlet 64 and into the working side 208 of the chamber 203. An outlet 63 is connected to the working side 208 of the chamber 203 so that the fluid is able to flow from the working side 208 of the chamber 203 to the outlet 63. A hydraulic controller 102 is operable to control the pump 201 by controlling the pressure of the fluid at the inlet 64 and the outlet 63 so as to optimise the output of the pump 201 in response to tidal variations and/or sea state. The pressure of the fluid at the inlet 64 and the outlet 63 is controlled in accordance with a control algorithm.

    摘要: For capturing energy contained in surface waves on a body of water while protecting the system from damage against conditions on the water surface, a transducer for converting wave energy to useful, e.g., electrical, energy is anchored to the water bed. A float is connected to the transducer by a rigid connector for transmitting variable forces against the float caused by wave induced circulatory water movements against the float. The connector is of such length that the float is always fully submerged (but within the energy zone of the waves) thus displacing a fixed volume of water and providing an essentially constant upward force on the transducer. The constant upward force is modified by the moving water induced variable forces against the float. The float can be a sphere, but the float is preferably of a shape including laterally extending panels providing a ratio of area to volume larger than that provided by a sphere. The transducer can be suspended from the float either closely adjacent to or well above the floor of the water body.
