Abstract:
An assembly for a door or window frame including an elongated sill and a corner key attached to each end of the sill. The corner key includes a water chamber for collecting water therein and a plurality of ports for diverting water from the water chamber outwardly through a drain port. The water chamber and plurality of ports are designed to temper a high-pressure gradient in the sill and effectively promote water egress away from the sill.
Abstract:
System for plugging an opening, including: a plug element designed to cover said opening, a frame made up of at least four rails (1′) designed to be positioned inside the opening and including a first groove (22) formed on a front wall of each rail, and a seal (29), said first groove (22) being designed to accommodate a substantially peripheral part (27) of the plug element, said seal (29) being designed to be accommodated with a tight fit in retaining means (34) inserted in said groove (22) and retaining said plug element on the frame.
Abstract:
A spacer for sealing a joint between a first component and a second component of an entryway. The spacer may include substantially rigid support and a first gasket having a first uncompressed thickness (T1). The first gasket is attached to a first surface of the support. The first surface has at least one first boss extending therefrom by a distance (D1) such that (D1) is less than (T1). The at least one first boss is configured to abut a portion of the first component to provide the desired compression of the first gasket between the first component and the support.
Abstract:
A door trim floor gap cover system includes a trim piece operable to cover a gap between a bottom edge of door trim and a walking surface of a flooring material under the door trim (i.e., casing, jamb, and optional door stop). The trim piece may be one piece that bends about the door trim. The trim piece may be a resilient material that deforms while being positioned and is biased toward its original shape to hold onto the door casing. The trim piece may be more than one piece wherein a first portion is positioned on the casing and jamb and the second portion is then interlocked with the first portion to complete the trim piece, covering the floor gap. A pair of hooks extend behind the casing to engage a distal face of the casing, retaining the system against the door trim (casing and jamb).
Abstract:
A door sill assembly for an entryway of a building can include a substrate having a nosing and a sill channel. A nosing cover can be attached to the substrate and extending over at least a portion of the nosing and over at least a portion of the sill channel. A sill deck can be on the substrate. The sill deck can include a deck and a clip. In an embodiment, the sill deck and clip are a unitary construction. The deck can be engaged with a portion of the nosing cover. The clip can be operably engaged with the deck. The clip can be removably attachable to the substrate. The sill deck is capable of removable attachment from the door sill assembly before or after the door sill assembly is installed in the entryway.
Abstract:
A handicap accessible doorway includes a frame having side jambs and a low profile sill extending between the bottom portions of the jambs. A flexible fin extends along the length of the sill and projects upwardly therefrom to form a water dam. The flexible fin is sealingly attached at each end to a jamb. During a blowing rainstorm, water is contained by the dam and directed to a contain-and-drain water management system, which directs the water away from the doorway to an exterior weep hole or other drain port. The fin, being flexible, yields to the weight of a footstep or a wheelchair thereby maintaining the handicap accessible designation of the sill and the doorway.
Abstract:
An arrangement for fastening a body to a surface, the body having a bore defined there through, includes, but is not limited to, a fitting configured for attachment to the surface. The fitting has a first flange and a second flange spaced apart from the first flange. The first flange has a first opening and the second flange has a second opening substantially axially aligned with the first opening. The arrangement further includes a retaining pin configured to extend through the first opening, the bore, and the second opening when a portion of the body is positioned between the first flange and the second flange. The arrangement further includes a cover member configured to be fastened to the first flange and to obstruct outward movement of the retaining pin from the first opening, the bore, and the second opening when the cover member is fastened to the first flange.

Abstract:
A door threshold may include upper and lower members for sandwiching carpet and/or carpet padding therebetween. The threshold may, in certain example embodiments, grip the carpet in order to prevent it from being pulled out from between the upper and lower threshold members. Thus, in certain example instances, the need for tacks (or carpet tack strip(s)) proximate the threshold can be reduced and/or eliminated. In certain example embodiments of this invention, the threshold structure may include a locating bracket that is provided proximate the door frame for frame alignment and security purposes, and/or one or more pans located under the threshold for locating and/or securing purposes. Levelers, shims and/or the like may be used in certain example embodiments in order to compensate for non-level flooring proximate the door.
Abstract:
A threshold assembly is disposed below a closure. The threshold assembly includes a sill having a first end and a second end spaced from each other and having an entry portion sloping downwardly from a proximate end to a distal end between the first and second ends. A pair of jamb pedestals are disposed at the first and second ends of the sill, respectively. Each jamb pedestal supports a jamb spaced above the sill. A first wall extends upwardly from the proximate end of the entry portion and a second wall extends upwardly from the sill and along the first wall to define a channel extending longitudinally between the jamb pedestals. The first wall defines an opening which establishes fluid communication from the channel to the entry portion of the sill between the jamb pedestals for directing water from the channel away from the threshold assembly along the entry portion.
