摘要: This disclosure describes insulated glass units (IGUs) that incorporate electrochromic devices. More specifically, this disclosure focuses on different configurations available for providing an electrical connection to the interior region of an IGU. In many cases, an IGU includes two panes separated by a spacer. The spacer defines an interior region of the IGU and an exterior region of the IGU. Often, the electrochromic device positioned on the pane does not extend past the spacer, and some electrical connection must be provided to supply power from the exterior of the IGU to the electrochromic device on the interior of the IGU. In some embodiments, the spacer includes one or more holes (e.g, channels, mouse holes, other holes, etc.) through which an electrical connection (e.g., wires, busbar leads, etc.) may pass to provide power to the electrochromic device.

摘要: An integrated glazing unit (IGU) includes a first pane, an electronic laminate that includes an electronic device provided between first and second substrates, a plurality of terminals coupled to the electronic device, and the first substrate being attached to the first pane. The IGU also includes a second pane coupled to the electronic laminated assembly by a spacer, the spacer being recessed with respect to the laminate edge and the second pane edge, forming an interpane volume, R, between the first and second panes. The IGU further includes a gutter having an open face and giving access to an inner volume, Vi. The gutter is positioned within the interpane volume, R, with the open face being recessed from, flush with or extending by less than 10 mm from the second pane edge. The gutter is suitable for receiving the male and/or female electric connector of a cable harness in the inner volume, Vi.

摘要: This invention provides a sealing spacer for spacing apart two window panes to form a window assembly. The spacer has an elongated, flexible strip having opposed edge surfaces and opposed side surfaces. The spacer also has a fiber reinforced polymer layer over the elongated, flexible strip. The opposed edge surfaces undulate with crests and troughs. The spacer has an activatable sealant for directly sealingly securing the flexible strip to each of the two window panes. The activatable sealant is on each of the opposed side surfaces of the fiber reinforced polymer. The invention also provides methods for making the spacer and window assembly.

摘要: A dosage device for extruding a bicomponent or a monocomponent sealant, particularly for an automatic machine for sealing a perimetric edge of an insulating glazing unit constituted by at least two glass sheets and by at least one spacer frame, having a finite width, is arranged proximate to the perimeter at a finite distance from the margin of the glass sheets, includes a first dosage assembly and a separate second dosage assembly for the dosage and feeding of the sealant, which can be activated alternately, in a first feeding step and in a third feeding step, so that one of them provides flow continuity to an extrusion nozzle while the other one is in the reloading step. The first and second dosage assemblies are activatable, in a second swapping step that is intermediate with respect to the first and third feeding steps, simultaneously and jointly, one of them having a flow-rate ramp that passes from the steady-state value to zero and the other one complementarily having a flow-rate ramp that passes from zero to the steady-state value.

摘要: A method and apparatus for low temperature laser sealing of bonded articles is disclosed. Hermetic sealing of glass substrates using low temperature sealing techniques that do not adversely affect bulk strength of glass substrates, the environment created between the substrates and/or any components housed within the sealed glass substrates is disclosed. Such low temperature sealing techniques include use of localized laser heating of sealing materials to form a hermetic seal between glass substrates that does not involve heating the entire article to be sealed.

摘要: This disclosure provides spacers for smart windows. In one aspect, a window assembly includes a first substantially transparent substrate having an optically switchable device on a surface of the first substrate. The optically switchable device includes electrodes. A first electrode of the electrodes has a length about the length of a side of the optically switchable device. The window assembly further includes a second substantially transparent substrate a metal spacer between the first and the second substrates. The metal spacer has a substantially rectangular cross section, with one side of the metal spacer including a recess configured to accommodate the length of the first electrode such that there is no contact between the first electrode and the metal spacer. A primary seal material bonds the first substrate to the metal spacer and bonds the second substrate to the metal spacer.

摘要: A refrigerator door construction is disclosed which includes door rail elements formed from a foamed polymeric substance. At least one substantially transparent panel is supported, retained by and sealed in the door rail. Connection elements are provided for connecting the door rail elements. At least one hinge is provided for allowing pivotal movement of the door about an axis. The foam rail element may also form one or more spacer elements between adjacent panels so that separate, discrete spacer bars may be eliminated.
