Abstract:
One embodiment of the invention is a horizontal scaffold truss that has upper and lower horizontal scaffold members offset but fixedly joined with braces. Each upper and lower members have a connector positioned on each end of the respective lower and upper members, where at least one of the connectors is pivotally mounted on the respective lower or upper connector, and the connectors are engagable with an annular member positioned on a vertical scaffold member.
Abstract:
The scaffold has demountable elements which can be connected to one another to make up lateral frames that incorporate vertical members, flooring platforms or planks, diagonal bracing bars, and handrail poles, and is characterized in that the said lateral frames are composed of an inverted L-shaped element and a straight pole which is connected, by a quick coupling without clearance, to the horizontal arm of the L, and is optionally complemented by further poles to make up the lateral frames, both the straight pole and the vertical or longer arm of the inverted L-shaped element being provided with quick couplings with swinging clamping pieces which are intended to receive the flattened ends of reinforcing tie rods and safety-rail poles.
Abstract:
We provide a platform (10) comprising a deck element (14) having a load-bearing member (18) secured to at least one support beam (16) of the deck element (14), and a plurality of first connection arrangements, and a plurality of deck support members (30) each having a second connection arrangement, wherein the deck element (14) is moveable with respect to the plurality of deck support members (30) to connect the deck element (14) to the plurality of deck support members (30), and wherein each of the first connection arrangements is configured to engage a respective one of the second connection arrangements, the first connection arrangement being one of an engaging member (20) or a receiving formation (35), and the respective second connection arrangement being the other of an engaging member (20) or a receiving formation (35), such that movement of the engaging member (20) in a first engaging direction causes the engaging member (20) to engage the receiving formation (35), to restrict movement of the deck element (14) relative to the respective deck support member (30) in at least one plane.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a vertical scaffolding element consisting of a tubular portion provided with a number n of radially projecting sockets, distributed peripherally in a star arrangement, designed for the attachment of one end of a horizontal crosspiece of the scaffolding; the sockets are defined by a metal strip folded in order to form a star-shaped part closed on itself having protuberances forming the said sockets alternating with re-entrant regions bearing against the tubular portion, the upper and lower edges of the reentrant regions in contact with the tubular portion being welded thereto by continuous or discontinuous annular weld beads.

Abstract:
A scaffold comprises uprights and transverse tubular braces formed of aluminum. Each upright includes a tubular post extruded with external alignment grooves. Identical aluminum flange assemblies are spaced apart along the post. Each flange assembly includes an extruded sleeve with internal aligning ribs that interlock with the external grooves of the post, and a flange cast with internal ribs that interlock with external alignment grooves extruded with the sleeve. Flange decreases continuously from a central part to its periphery. A set of wedge-receiving openings is formed between the central part and periphery. A brace carries an aluminum connector having upper and lower sections that define a mouth for receiving the flange. An outer part of the mouth mates with inclined upper and lower surfaces of the central part of the flange. An inner part of the mouth remains clear of the flange so that shear forces and bending moments are applied by the brace to the thicker central part of the flange. The connector sections have aligned openings that register with an opening in the flange, and a wedge is inserted that secures the joint.
Abstract:
A locking connector for detachably securing a connecting member or brace to a frame part of a scaffolding, employs a gusset plate unit secured to the frame and provided with at least one latching slot portion. The end of the connecting member or brace carries a latching unit or device that is adapted to be removably introduced into the latching slot portion of the gusset plate. The latching device has a pair of spaced-apart flanges secured on a stub shaft, and a latching collar and a cooperating operating arm are rotatably carried on the shaft between the flanges. The latching collar has a centrally disposed flange and spaced-apart segmental or arcuate inner and outer pairs of lugs along the shaft secured on each side of the flange. The operating arm has a closed-end, elongated, slot portion that is adapted to ride on the inner pair of lugs for rotating the collar on the shaft. The gusset plate has an open slot entry passage or mouth portion of minimized entry extent through which the outer pair of lugs are adapted to be introduced when the lugs and the diametric spacing therebetween are aligned with the open mouth portion to expose the shaft between the restricted opening thereof. The open mouth portion is provided with inclined, outwardly diverging, entry edges along which the outer lugs are adapted to ride and roll in introducing the device into the latching slot portion. The gusset plate is provided with a cross wall portion against which an outer rounded flange of the pair secured on the shaft is adapted to engage and cooperate with the flange and the outer pair of lugs of the collar to provide a balanced aligning, inward rolling turning movement of the collar when the device is being introduced into a latching position.

Abstract:
A portable scaffold having tubular structural elements has necked fittings extending into the ends of the tubular elements and attached thereto by adhesive which is introduced through an entry port preferably provided by a porting ring sleeved on the neck of each fitting and opposed by an O-ring. The adhesive flows from the entry port through longitudinal and circumferential grooves in the neck between the porting ring and O-ring and vents through a vent port in the porting ring.
