    摘要: The invention relates generally to an improvement to a rotary joint and stationary siphon system typically for use in the papermaking process. Disclosed is a siphon support that has a bearing that rotatably engages with a siphon and flow openings that allow for steam flow from the rotary joint to the interior of a heat exchange roll. Further disclosed is a support device with a flow section that receives steam from the rotary joint and transmits it on to the heat exchange roll, wherein the flow section raises the pressure differential across the rotary joint by less than about 2 p.s.i. The support device is also only attached to the rotary joint and siphon thereby reduces the cantilever effect of the stationary siphon. Further disclosed are systems for papermaking that include the siphon support and rotary joint; the siphon support and stationary siphon; and the support, rotary joint and siphon. Further disclosed is a method of assembly wherein the support device is attached to a rotary joint and siphon.

The bearing may be mounted within a tube insertable into the journal bore to facilitate maintenance and replacement, and the condensate receiving end of the pick-up conduit is very accurately positioned with respect to the roll chamber inner surface by a positive locking arrangement remotely operated at the journal outer end.

    摘要: A rotary dryer for the drying of a moving web of material has a thin-walled shell with lateral heads and bearing journal at each end, and is heated internally with steam. For the discharge of condensate and flash steam a low-pressure syphon rotating with the shell is provided, consisting of syphon shoe, standpipe and outlet pipe. To keep the differential pressure required for the discharge of the mix of condensate plus flash steam as low as possible even in changing operating conditions the invention provides for the arrangement of an internal baffle in the center of the syphon shoe to convey the mix of condensate in flash steam and also to stabilize it. For this purpose the internal baffle may have as supplement also additional internal subdivision chambers. Furthermore, the invention also provides for the additional arrangement of steam jet nozzles.The rotary low-pressure syphon according to the invention (FIG. 2) is particularly effective at high production speeds for minimization of the differential pressure required for the discharge of the mix, furthermore for system stabilization in changing production conditions.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for the removal of condensate from a cylinder, in particular a cylinder for drying paper by means of steam supplied under pressure to the interior of the cylinder via a first conduit. The steam, partially condensed to water, is removed from the cylinder through a second conduit. Optimum discharge of condensate is achieved, even at higher cylinder speeds by separating the fluid in the second conduit into a gaseous component and a liquid component, measuring the quantity of the gaseous component, and keeping the same constant by control means.
