The entire fibre suspension to be separated is sprayed in the form of at least one liquid jet onto said wall (2) to force a fine fraction of the suspension containing most of said undesired particles through said wall of filter material into the hollow filter body, thereby leaving a created coarse fraction of the fibre suspension mainly containing fibres in the container outside the filter body. Relative displacement between the liquid jet and the filter material is provided. Said created coarse fraction is dewatered through the wall of filter material, and said dewatered coarse fraction is discharged from the container.

At least one of the press rolls is constructed of a perforated metal outer shell surrounding a substantially rigid inner roll body. A layer of elastic material is disposed between the rigid roll body and the perforated metal shell to provide a resilient member. As a result of the elastic material, this press roll will deform during the dewatering operation to provide an extended nip region of about 3 to 5% of the overall press roll diameter.

The method is for distributing cellulose pulp that has a 2-12% consistency. A manifoid housing is in fluid communication with distributor housing. The distributor housing has holes that are distributed along a generatrix of the distribution housing. The cellulose pulp is fed into an inlet of the manifold housing. The feed screw is rotated to convey the cellulose pulp in the transverse direction through the distributor housing. The feed screw sweeps across the holes in the distributor housing to urge the cellulose pulp through the holes. The cellulose pulp is uniformly fed through the holes and then through an inlet to dewatering drums. The cellulose pulp is run between the dewatering drums and a trough to form a pulp web. The pulp web is dewatered in a press nip formed between the dewatering drums. The dewatered pulp web is collected by a feed screw.

A suspension to be drained rests against a perforated first face, which is a part of the rotor of the drum thickener or disk filter, is transported from the suspension vat, and then arrives in a thickening region. The thickening region contains a second face, wherein the first and second face have a relative speed in relation to each other. The effectiveness of the thickening can be significantly increased by vacuum zones provided on the drum thickener or disk filter.

The drum is imperforate. A pair of the drums is employed in a twin-roll press as press rolls, and one thereof is used in a single roll press with a compaction baffle. In one embodiment, the press roll has its grooves formed in a herringbone pattern, the same pointed in the direction of rotation, to enhance drainage. In another embodiment, the longitudinal drainage grooves have increasing depth, toward a mid-length of the press roll where they open into inner-drum drainage conduits which discharge the filtrate adjacent the rotary axis of the press roll.

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a film comprising highly refined cellulose fibers in a paper-making machine, the method comprising the steps of: a) providing an aqueous pulp suspension comprising at least 20% by dry weight of highly refined cellulose fibers having an SR (Schopper-Riegier) value in the range of 80-100 at a consistency in the range of 0.8-3 wt % and; b) deflocculating and diluting the aqueous pulp suspension to a lower consistency in the range of 0.1-1.5 wt % by injecting the aqueous pulp suspension into an aqueous stream using a high shear mixer to obtain a diluted aqueous pulp suspension; and c) feeding the diluted aqueous pulp suspension to a headbox of the paper-making machine.
