Abstract:
Described herein are apparatuses and methods for dyeing garments. An exemplary apparatus comprises a dye injection system configured to dispense concentrated liquid dye; a dyeing machine comprising a dyeing chamber configured for dyeing at least one garment in a dyebath; and a controller in communication with the dye injection system and the dyeing machine, wherein the controller is configured: to receive at least one garment parameter corresponding to the at least one garment; based at least in part on the at least one received garment parameter, cause the dye injection system to dispense a volume of concentrated liquid dye containing an amount of dyestuff that can be substantially absorbed by the at least one garment; and cause the dyeing machine to execute a dye cycle such that substantially all of the dyestuff in the dispensed concentrated liquid dye is absorbed by the at least one garment within the dyeing chamber.
Abstract:
A method for recycling dye from a dyed textile, the method comprising providing a textile coloured with a dye; adding the textile to a bath comprising a solution of ionic liquid, thereby causing the dye to strip from the textile and to disperse within said solution.
Abstract:
A method for: (1) The application of solvent-based resin formulations to various forms and classes of textile fibers, fabrics, and finished goods which, when dyes or pigments are included, will impart color to textile materials; (2) The application of the formulations to various forms of rubbers, natural and synthetic, in the pre-formed state or subsequent to forming a finished product which will impart color and fortification; (3) The application of the same group of formulations to revitalize plastic surfaces and impart color to plastics prior to and subsequent to forming finished products; (4) The application of the same formulations to polymers for the purpose of carrying additives for purposes such as, but not limited to, sizing, mildew resistance, UV protection, glazing, creation of printable or paintable surfaces, artistic coloring effects, abrasion resistance, stain resistance, mercerizing, and many more, with or without dyes or pigments included.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a method for providing a dyed meta-aramid material, wherein said method comprises at least a step of pretreatment of the material and a subsequent step of dyeing the material, characterized in that the step of pretreatment is carried out under closed conditions, in the presence of an aqueous medium, and at a target temperature of 80 to 130° C. This invention also relates to fibers, yarns, and fabrics obtained from this method.
Abstract:
A method for darkening black clothing for darkening faded black clothing and for preventing the fading of black clothing. The method for darkening black clothing includes a quantity of black dye, a quantity of sodium chloride salt, and a quantity of water. The black dye, the salt and the water are mixed together to define a mixture. The mixture in a container for later use in darkening clothing.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing and distributing a garment that commemorates a memorable place or tangible object. The method comprises the following steps: (a) converting at least a portion of the place or object to a particulate form, (b) mixing the particulate matter with a dye composition to form a dye mixture, (c) obtaining a quantity of dyeable garments, (d) dyeing at least a portion of each of said garments, using said dye mixture, and (e) distributing the dyed garments to members of the public, each one accompanied by a visually readable imprint that informs the reader that the garment has been colored in a formulation that contained at least a portion of the object and that identifies the nature of the portion that was used. A winning race car, for example, may be commemorated in this manner by mixing paint scraped from the car with a dye solutioln of approximately the same color and using the resultant slurry to dye t-shirts that are then tagged as to origin and distributed in commerce.
