A device is provided on a spinning preparation machine for receiving a sliver from a discharge device of the spinning preparation machine and transporting the sliver to a downstream machine, the spinning preparation machine having a depositing region. The device has a support for receiving the sliver deposited from the discharge device in the depositing region, and a moving device for moving the deposited sliver relative to the discharge device in the depositing region for forming a free standing sliver bundle, and for moving the free standing sliver bundle out of the depositing region for transport to a downstream machine.

Disclosed is a process and a device for automatic introduction of a fiber sliver into a textile machine equipped with a feed mechanism. The end of the fiber sliver is brought into a defined receiving position in which it is introduced into the feed mechanism. A predetermined length of the end of the fiber sliver is seized. The sliver is then shortened to a second predetermined length and is then introduced into the feed mechanism.

A sliver piecing unit 80 includes three sets of separable rollers 804 and 844, 806 and 846, and 808 and 848 for nipping a sliver S1 fed from a consumed can to a spinning machine. A throttling nozzle 870 is arranged between the second and third sets of rollers 806 and 846, and 808 and 848. The draft ratio between the first and second sets of rollers 804 and 844, and 806 and 846 can be varied between 1.0 and 2.0. A sliver feed unit 70 includes a separable first and second roller 702a and 702b for feeding a sliver S2 from a full can to the piecing unit 80 so that the slivers S1 and S2 are combined. The draft ratio between the first and second sets of rollers 804 and 844, and 806 and 846 is controlled to obtain combined slivers of a thickness corresponding to that of a single sliver. A nipping belt 884 and nipping roller 886 are provided at the outlet from the third set of the rollers 808 and 804 for obtaining a rubbing movement in the combined slivers. A breaking element 802 is provided at the inlet to the first set of the rollers 804 and 844 to break the first sliver S1 after the completion of the piecing operation.

An open end spinning machine and an associated traveling sliver can replacement carriage are provided with cooperating components for automatically replacing empty sliver cans at the spinning positions of the machine with full sliver cans and threading up the sliver for spinning resumption. An openable and closable sliver guide is provided at each spinning position in association with a sliver monitor which recognizes the presence and absence of sliver in the guide. A signal transmitter at each spinning position produces a can replacement signal when the monitor recognizes the absence of sliver in the guide. A program controller is associated with a signal receiver on the carriage to actuate exchange of the empty sliver can at the signaling spinning position with a full sliver can from the carriage. The program controller also actuates opening of the sliver guide, insertion of the sliver from the replacement can thereinto, and splicing of the leading end of sliver from the replacement can with the trailing end of sliver from the can previously in service.

A device for exchanging empty cans with cans filled with sliver at a sliver processing machine having set locations for the cans wherein a mobile transport device is automatically driven along a floorlike travel path at the machine include successively placing filled cans entrained with the transport device automatically at set locations of the machine which are unoccupied, picking up empty cans automatically with the transport device, and driving the transport device automatically back to a loading station, when the transport device is too full to pick up any more cans, so as to surrender the empty cans and pick up filled cans at the loading station preparatory to driving the transport device back to the sliver-processing machine or to another machine.

A process is provided for connecting the end of a new fiber band to the end of a fiber band running into an open-end spinning arrangement wherein the threading on is conducted in such a manner that the joining point between the new fiber band and the fiber band already running into the spinning arrangement does not result into a change in the yarn number. In one embodiment it is provided that the fiber bands are prepared in such a manner and connected to each other, especially by means of twisting them together, such that a joining point exhibits at least approximately the same number as the other areas of the fiber band. In a second embodiment, it is provided that following a joining of the two fiber bands the feeding device of the spinning arrangement is switched on until the joining point is running into the spinning arrangement whereby the fibers fed during this time period are transported off within the spinning arrangement.

Method of exchanging sliver cans of a spinning machine having individual spinning stations, the sliver cans being disposed in staggered array adjacent and behind one another, by means of a can exchanging device able to travel on a given travel path along the spinning machine which includes placing the sliver cans in groups of at least three cans on turntables installed below the respective spinning stations of the spinning machine, conducting the can-exchanging device with at least one filled sliver can carried thereby in operating readiness past the groups of at least three cans at the respective spinning stations, stopping at a respective spinning station in response to a signal "sliver missing" from the spinning station and automatically carrying out the following operating steps:(a) turning the turntable into can-exchanging position if the turntable is not already in such position;(b) removing from the turntable the sliver can to be exchanged;(c) delivering the filled sliver can from the can exchanging device to the turntable;(d) turning the turntable back into operating position thereof if necessary;(e) conducting the can-exchanging device to a loading station and surrendering thereto the removed sliver can;(f) and providing the can-exchanging device with another filled sliver can to be carried thereby.
摘要:
Two rows of cans, the number of which corresponds to half of the number of spinning units in a spinning frame, are arranged along each side of the spinning frame, with the inside cans half full of slivers and the outside cans full of slivers before starting the operation. Slightly before the slivers in the inside cans are used up, their ends are pieced with the slivers in full cans previously supplied in their standing-by positions backwardly of the outside row of cans. The empty cans in the inside row are moved inwardly onto a conveyer between the inside can rows and then the cans in the outside row, which are now half full of the slivers, are moved in the inside row and the cans in the standing-by positions are also moved in the outside row. The empty cans on the conveyer can be removed out of the spinning machine by driving the conveyer.

Sliver is delivered from a drawing frame to an open-end spinning frame in sliver containing cans and, at a transfer location along the travel path of a servicing device for the spinning frame, sliver is removed from the cans in partial lots and transferred to a sliver transport location on the service device to be transported to a spinning station whose sliver supply has been exhausted, whereat the servicing device performs the transfer of the sliver lot to the spinning station as well as the introduction end the piecing-up of the sliver.
