Abstract:
An initiator for the terminal group of the polymer product of an atom or group radical transfer polymerisation has an activated carboxyl or an amine group which is reacted with an amine or carboxyl (respectively) group containing biologically active compound. The initiator is preferably 4-(3-(2-bromo, 2-methyl-propionate)phenyl)-propionic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester or 2-bromo, 2-methyl-propionic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester. The monomers preferably comprise a zwitterionic monomer such as 2-methacryloxyethyl-2′-trimethyl ammoniumethyl phosphate inner salt.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to conjugates of biologically active compounds, preferably therapeutically active compounds, with polymeric moieties having low polydispersity, as well as controlled polymerisation processes for producing the conjugates. An initiation for a controlled radical polymerisation process comprises a biologically active, usually therapeutically active, moiety and the monomer includes zwitterionic monomer for instance 2-methacryloyloxyethyl -2′-trimethylammonium ethyl phosphate inner salt. The process allows close control of the molecular weight and polydispersity of the polymeric moiety and the possibility of optimizing the delivery characteristics of the active agent.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a monomer with anti-microbial characteristics, a polymeric compound with anti-microbial characteristics using the same, and manufacturing methods thereof, and more particularly, to an antimicrobial monomer comprising a saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon having a polymerizable functional group within its structure. Also, the present invention provides a polymeric compound using the above antimicrobial monomer, a manufacturing method thereof, and a polymeric resin composition. The compounds according to the present invention have durable antimicrobial activity and high heat resistance, they do not give rise to toxicity when added to conventional resins by not eluting the antimicrobial compounds, and they do not have an effect on the properties of molded products.
Abstract:
The present is drawn to the use of blocked acid monomers for the incorporation of highly acidic groups, such as strong acids and multiple acids, on the surface of latex particles via emulsion polymerization. In accordance with this, a method of forming latex particulates having high charge density surfaces can comprise the steps of preparing a monomer emulsion including an aqueous phase and an organic monomer phase, wherein the organic monomer phase includes at least one blocked acid monomer; polymerizing the organic monomer phase to form blocked acid latex particulates dispersed in the aqueous phase; and unblocking the blocked acid latex particulates to form acidified latex particulates.
Abstract:
Cross-linked ampholytic polymers that may be used as rheological modifiers, and/or absorbent gelling materials are disclosed. The polymers may be storage stable in aqueous compositions comprising soluble salt, and/or an oxidizer, such as hydrogen peroxide.
