Abstract:
The invention relates to a composition for inorganic binders, comprising at least one ketone-formaldehyde condensation product on the basis of a cyclic ketone and at least one anionic or nonionic surfactant and/or a thickener, and also to building material mixtures which comprise this composition, and to the use of the composition. The compositions improve the applications properties of the binder formulations.
Abstract:
A method of increasing the fracture complexity in a treatment zone of a subterranean formation is provided. The subterranean formation is characterized by having a matrix permeability less than 1.0 microDarcy. The method includes the step of pumping one or more fracturing fluids into a far-field region of a treatment zone of the subterranean formation at a rate and pressure above the fracture pressure of the treatment zone. A first fracturing fluid of the one or more fracturing fluids includes a first solid particulate, wherein: (a) the first solid particulate includes a particle size distribution for bridging the pore throats of a proppant pack previously formed or to be formed in the treatment zone; and (b) the first solid particulate comprises a degradable material. In an embodiment, the first solid particulate is in an insufficient amount in the first fracturing fluid to increase the packed volume fraction of any region of the proppant pack to greater than 73%. Similar methods using stepwise fracturing fluids and remedial fracturing treatments are provided.
Abstract:
The invention generally provides gypsum-containing slurries including stucco, naphthalenesulfonate dispersant, and pregelatinized starch. The naphthalenesulfonate dispersant is present in an amount of about 0.1%-3.0% by weight based on the weight of dry stucco. The pregelatinized starch is present in an amount of at least about 0.5% by weight up to about 10% by weight of pregelatinized starch by weight based on the weight of dry stucco in the formulation. Other slurry additives can include trimetaphosphate salts, accelerators, binders, paper fiber, glass fiber, and other known ingredients. The invention also comprises the gypsum-containing products made with such slurries, for example, gypsum wallboard, and a method of making gypsum wallboard.
Abstract:
A dense mortar includes: (i) an ettringite binder, including calcium sulphate and a calcium aluminate mineral compound, (ii) at least one poly(alkylene oxide) comb polymer and, (iii) at least one organic resin, the organic resin accounting for less than 2% by weight of the mortar.
Abstract:
An aqueous polymer composition containing particles of a first polymer and particles of a second polymer with preferred molecular weight ranges, and wax is provided. Coatings prepared from the aqueous polymer composition may be employed as coatings which have water whitening resistance, bead water, and provide resistance to efflorescence to cementitious substrates, such as roof tiles. A method of preparing a coated cementitious substrate with the aqueous polymer composition and an article containing the coated cementitious substrate are also provided.
Abstract:
Compositions for well cementing comprise a pumpable slurry of cement, water and at least one additive that swells in contact with an underground fluid (hydrocarbon, water or brines or mixtures thereof). In case of failure of the cement matrix after setting, the additive swells when contacted by the underground fluid and restores zonal isolation. The swelling additive is an elastomer compounded with an aqueous inverse emulsion of particles of a polymer comprising a betaine group.
Abstract:
A cement for use in wells in which carbon dioxide is injected, stored or extracted, comprises elastomer particles. In the event of cement-matrix failure, or bonding failure between the cement/casing interface or the cement/borehole-wall interface, the elastomer particles swell when contacted by carbon dioxide. The swelling seals voids in the cement matrix, or along the bonding interfaces, thereby restoring zonal isolation.
