Abstract:
A photovoltaic device (e.g., solar cell) includes: a front substrate (e.g., glass substrate); a semiconductor absorber film; a back contact including a first conductive layer of or including copper (Cu) and a second conductive layer of or including molybdenum (Mo); and a rear substrate (e.g., glass substrate). A selenium blocking layer is provided between at least the Cu inclusive layer and the Mo inclusive layer.
Abstract:
A cover plate for a domestic appliance includes an at least semi-transparent support plate having a bottom provided with at least one colored layer and at least one semi-transparent metal layer. The metal layer has at least one continuous cut-out section and the colored layer is arranged in the area of the cut-out section.

Abstract:
Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to a window having anti-fungal/anti-bacterial properties and/or self-cleaning properties, and a method of making the same. In certain example embodiments, a silver based layer is be provided and the layer(s) located thereover (e.g., the zirconium oxide inclusive layer) are designed to permit silver particles to migrate/diffuse to the surface over time to kill bacteria/germs at the surface of the coated article thereby creating an anti-bacterial/anti-fungal effect. In certain example embodiments, silver may also or instead be mixed in with other material as the top layer of the anti-bacterial coating.
Abstract:
A coated article such as a mirror or window is provided, the coated article including a coating supported by a glass substrate. The coating may include at least a reflective layer in certain example embodiments of this invention. In certain example embodiments, the reflective layer and/or a layer proximate thereto is selectively oxidized or oxidized in areas corresponding to draw lines or other non-uniformities in the glass substrate. This permits reflections from the coated article to be more uniform and/or less distorted.

Abstract:
The invention provides low solar reflectance, low-emissivity coatings. The invention also provides a pane bearing a low solar reflectance, low-emissivity coating. Further, the invention provides an insulating glass unit comprising first and second panes held in a spaced-apart configuration, wherein the panes have confronting inner surfaces oriented toward a between-pane space and opposed outer surfaces oriented away from the between-pane space, and wherein one of these inner surfaces bears a low solar reflectance, low-emissivity coating. Also provided are methods of producing coated substrates.
Abstract:
The Invention relates to a method for producing a solid support coated by a metal Layer to which an SiOx layer provided with a uniform and stable thickness is applied, wherein said solid support makes it possible to determine the pretense of a compound on the surface thereof by means of Surface Plasmon Resonance (≦SPR ≧).
Abstract:
A substrate includes an opaque chrome coating on a surface of the substrate dry-etched to form an aperture, wherein chrome in the aperture is below detectable limit. A method of forming an opaque chrome coating on a substrate includes depositing an initial thickness of the opaque chrome coating on the substrate without ion-assist or with undetectable ion-assist and depositing the remainder of the opaque chrome coating with or without ion-assist. In one embodiment the invention is directed to an apertured optical element having a substrate transmissive to light and an opaque chrome coating on the substrate defining an aperture. Three- and four-layer opaque coatings of various materials are disclosed, including three-layer chrome/chrome oxide/chrome coatings.
Abstract:
A bright pigment including a scaly inorganic base 10 and a silver-based alloy coating 20 that covers the inorganic base 10 and that includes silver and at least one noble metal selected from the group consisting of gold, palladium and platinum, wherein the content of the noble metal is in a range of 0.1 to 2 atomic % when the sum of the atomic % of the silver and the atomic % of the noble metal is 100 atomic %.
