Abstract: The present invention provides an elevator system which prevents interruption of communication with a wireless communication device installed in a car, while suppressing the cost. The elevator system includes the car ascending/descending in a hoistway, multiple hoistway wireless communication devices installed in the hoistway, and a car wireless communication device installed in the car. The elevator system is configured to allow communication between the hoistway wireless communication device and the car wireless communication device. A spacing between the hoistway wireless communication devices which are installed at positions near a vertical center of the hoistway is smaller than a spacing between the hoistway wireless communication devices which are installed at positions farther from the vertical center.

Abstract: A method for deploying a controller to an elevator system includes generating a request to at least one other controller for obtaining at least one parameter relating to a deployment of the controller to the elevator system, receiving a response, and in response to detection that the at least one parameter in the response comprises a set of operational parameters, initiating a configuration procedure, and in response to detection that the at least one parameter in the response does not comprise the set of operational parameters, deriving an identifier of the elevator system included as the at least one parameter in the response and generating a request including the identifier of the elevator system for obtaining the set of operational parameters. An elevator system is configured to perform the method.

Abstract: A method and an arrangement is provided for determining the location and/or speed of an object configured to move along a controlled trajectory, in connection with which object is fitted a measuring device measuring at least the magnetic field acting on the object in its different locations, which measuring device comprises a device configured to measure the magnetic field, from the measuring data received from which device a magnetic footprint describing the magnetic field acting on the object in its different locations is formed, which magnetic footprint is recorded in connection with a teaching run, or with self-learning, for later use. The location of the object after a teaching run is determined by measuring in essentially real-time in the direction of the three coordinates X, Y, Z of the magnetic field acting on the object moving along a controlled trajectory and by comparing the measurement results to a magnetic footprint recorded in advance and also by deducing as a result of the comparison the exact location of the object on its path of travel.

Abstract: An elevator system is provided that includes an elevator car, a counterweight, a load bearing flexible member, a motor having a drive, and an elevator control system. The car and counterweight are operable to be translated within a hoistway. The load bearing flexible member extends between the elevator car and the counterweight. The motor is operable to move the load bearing member and thereby drive the elevator car and counterweight within the hoistway. The elevator motor and drive are configured to selectively produce regenerative power. The elevator control system includes a power manager unit and a power storage device. The power storage device includes a supercapacitor unit and a battery unit. The power manager unit is operable to selectively manage the flow of power between the power storage device and the motor drive, and the flow of regenerative power from the motor drive to the power storage device.

Abstract: A method for modernizing a hydraulic elevator including an elevator car guided by car guide rails for moving in an essentially vertical direction in the elevator hoistway, a hydraulic system including a lifting cylinder having a cylinder part essentially vertically supported on the base of the elevator hoistway and a piston rod moving in relation to the cylinder part and a hydraulic powerpack and a control center. The hydraulic system of the hydraulic elevator is modernized to include a function for preventing unintended starting at a floor, in such a way that the hydraulic powerpack is retained and an electrically-operating valve that is monitored with a control and that acts on the flow of hydraulic fluid of the lifting cylinder is added to the hydraulic system. The control controls a valve to prevent movement of the piston rod of the lifting cylinder downwards and/or upwards, if predetermined criteria are fulfilled.
