    Abstract: A spool configured to support a roll of material. The spool comprises an arbor, a first flange, and a second flange. The first flange includes a first plurality of flange panels that are rotatably connected to respective arbor panels of the arbor at a first arbor edge of the arbor. The second flange is connected to a second arbor edge of the arbor. The first flange is configured to transition between a retention configuration and an open configuration. In the retention configuration, the roll of material is substantially prevented from removal from the arbor along an arbor axis by the first and second flanges. In the open configuration, the roll of material is removable from the arbor and receivable on the arbor in the arbor direction.

    Abstract: A spool winder. The spool winder includes a plurality of arms, each having an upper end and a lower end. The plurality of arms are pivotally affixed at the lower end about a rod, wherein the rod can removably secure to a power drill. A notch is disposed on the upper end such that the notch faces the rod, wherein the notch can receive a rim of a spool therein. The spool winder further includes a slide lock having a plurality of apertures therein, wherein the plurality of apertures can receive the plurality of arms therethrough. The plurality of arms can move between a closed position and an open position as the slide lock is moved from the upper end towards the lower end. The distance between the upper end of each of the plurality of arms and the rod is greater when the arms are in the open position.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing permanent stretch characteristics of electromechanical cable by application of predetermined tension and heat to the cable while continuously moving the cable linearly from a supply drum, through spaced capstans and to a take-up drum. A cable heater is positioned at a braking capstan to soften the polymer insulation of the electrical conductor or conductors and permit tension responsive conductor movement relative to the polymer insulation, thus dissipating the permanent stretch and rendering the cable suitable for accurate well logging and for conducting other downhole well services. The outer cable armor is loosened to start the seasoning process and is tightened as it is taken up at completion of the process.
