Abstract:
A system for controlling a flow of articles includes two or more conveyor sections driven in a feed direction to convey articles. A plurality of sensors, each sensor associated with a conveyor section, count the articles in each lane. An accumulator conveyor is associated with a conveyor section and runs in an opposite direction to permit accumulation.
Abstract:
Devices and methods for buffering articles may include use of an infeed conveyor, an outfeed conveyor, and at least two accumulation conveyors defining a path extending between the infeed conveyor and the outfeed conveyor. Each accumulation conveyor includes an entrance portion adjacent the infeed conveyor for receiving articles from the infeed conveyor and an exit portion adjacent the outfeed conveyor for delivering articles to the outfeed conveyor.
Abstract:
An article induction system for preparing a stream of articles, such as mail parcels, for processing employs a series of conveyors operating under control of a controller for feeding articles to an operator at a cull belt at an optimal paced rate. The article induction system includes a destacking section, a separation and alignment section, a buffer section and a culling section manned by an operator. A controller controls the speed of each component based on measurements provided by sensors so as to feed articles to the operator at a desired paced rate.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes a system and method for providing a reservoir conveyor that provides the linear space needed to increase the capacity of the buffer storage reservoir such that it is compatible with and increases the efficiency of a Grader and packers.

Abstract:
An apparatus for transferring and accumulating objects. The apparatus includes at least a first group and a second group of accumulation channels parallel to each other. Each accumulation channel having an elongated extension along a direction parallel to an accumulation direction between a loading end and an unloading end of objects. The accumulation channels of the first group having the loading ends aligned with each other and the accumulation channels of the second group having the loading ends aligned with each other. The apparatus further includes at least a first and a second transfer device for transferring objects to said accumulation channels. The first and second transfer devices receive objects in an alternating manner and the loading ends of the accumulation channels of the first group are misaligned with respect to the loading ends of the accumulation channels of the second group.

Abstract:
An automated flow buffer system includes infeed and discharge shuttle systems. A buffering system is disposed between the infeed shuttle system and the discharge shuttle system. The buffering system includes buffer conveyors arranged in an array to buffer one or more items. The infeed shuttle system and the discharge shuttle system each include a shuttle frame disposed proximal to an end of the buffering system and one or more shuttles independently moveable along the shuttle frame. Each of the shuttles include a drive system configured to move the shuttle in horizontal and vertical directions along the shuttle frame so that the shuttle is able to service the conveyors in the buffering system. The shuttle includes a conveyance mechanism upon which one or more of the items are transported. The conveyance mechanism is configured to convey the items to and/or from the buffer conveyors of the buffering system.
Abstract:
An installation for accumulating and transferring products including a device having an upstream conveying system and at least two downstream conveying systems emerging longitudinally in a hold zone, at least one output conveyor, an accumulation surface, and transfer means. In example embodiments, at least two batches of products, which are formed successively by a division system and sent, for one of them, on one of the downstream conveying systems and, for the other, on the other downstream conveying system, arrive substantially at the same moment at said hold zone. Methods for accumulating and transferring products in a packaging line are also disclosed.
