Abstract:
A metering system includes a frame, first and second gates, and an actuator. The frame defines a chute configured to receive a supply of fasteners and maintain the fasteners in a line. The first and second gates are each mounted to the frame and movable to advance into the chute and retract away from the chute. The actuator is mechanically coupled to the first gate and configured to advance and retract the first gate relative to the chute. The second gate is configured to move based on the movement of the first gate so that as the first gate advances into the chute to block movement of the fasteners in the chute the second gate retracts, and as the first gate retracts away from the chute the second gate advances into the chute to block the movement of the fasteners in the chute.
Abstract:
A transportable container apparatus includes an elongate container having a central axis and a base attached to a bottom end of the container. The container and base are substantially symmetrical about the central axis and the container is oriented substantially vertically with the base resting on a ground surface when in a working position. The container having an upper container section with upper walls substantially parallel to the central axis and a lower container section with lower walls substantially parallel to the central axis. The upper container section includes a sloping hopper at a bottom thereof to direct granular material into the lower container section. A floor of the container is sloped toward an outlet port defined in a ported wall of the lower container section such that granular material stored in the container slides down the floor to the outlet port.
Abstract:
An assembly for controlling delivery of material from a bin opening includes a movable bin gate for closing the bin opening and providing a high flow rate of material when the movable gate is open, wherein a low flow aperture is formed in the bin gate to provide a low flow rate of material when the bin gate is positioned such that only the low flow aperture is open. A two-stage flow enhancer within the bin includes a first stage for impelling material in the direction of the low flow aperture and a second stage for impelling material to exit through the low flow aperture. A controller controls operation of the bin gate to adjust a flow rate of material from the bin opening. The controller may include a sensor for providing an actual weight value of material present in a receiving bin and a memory for storing a target weight value for the amount of material in the receiving bin, wherein the controller adjusts the position of the bin gate and the low flow aperture in response to the actual weight value and the target weight value. The bin gate may also be adjusted in response to one or more tolerance values defining proximity to the target weight value and/or in response to one or more threshold weight values, wherein the threshold weight values are less than the target weight value. A method for controlling delivery of material from a bin opening includes the steps of providing at the bin opening a movable bin gate with a low flow aperture and selectively positioning the bin gate using a single actuator to expose only the low flow aperture to the bin opening for material flow or to expose substantially all of the bin opening for material flow.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an impervious closure for pulverulent products, comprising a strip of felt fabric which is approximately 12 mm. thick. According to the invention, pressure is exerted on the fabric by a support flat bar which, in turn, is pushed by plate springs against a steel rotor. The aforementioned plate springs are fixed using a locknut and a regulating nut and said nuts can be used to adjust the pressure on the rotor and to obtain a suitable pressure.
Abstract:
The silo includes at least three hoppers, each formed by flat inclined plates along opposite sides and ends terminating in rectilinear discharge openings extending lengthwise transversely of a loading area for trucks below the discharge openings. Clam gates are movable between open and closed positions to discharge material into the truck bed. By using flat sided hoppers, the discharge area at the bottom of the silo is increased, facilitating faster loading of trucks with the particulate material.
Abstract:
A pneumatic outlet gate of a railroad hopper car has an valve member mounted for rotation in a discharge tube between open and closed positions. The valve member is an arcuate segment terminating laterally at edge faces. The edge faces are angled such that in the upper half of the discharge tube they always slant downwardly from the surface of the tube, while in the lower half of the discharge tube the edge faces face downwardly. An arrangement of stops and abutments prevents rotation of the valve member to a location where the edge faces could trap lading against the discharge tube. Accordingly, the edge faces are self-emptying.
Abstract:
A device is provided for controlling a discharge of a heavy material from a container such as a bucket, hopper or bin. The device generally includes a combination of gears and levers to couple rotation of a hand wheel or other bar to motion of the release door of a container such that the gears provide a force to the release door which is much greater than that applied to the hand wheel or bar. More specifically, the device may consist of a hand-driven shaft capable of being rotated by a hand wheel or other device. The rotation of this shaft may be coupled by interlocking gears to the rotation of a drive shaft, which is attached to the release door of the container by a lever, such that rotation of the drive shaft causes the release door to open or close, regulating the discharge of concrete or other heavy material from the container.
Abstract:
An adsorption medium reactor has a plurality of removal hoppers for removing flowable adsorption medium from the reactor. Each one of the removal hoppers has at least one removal opening. A common collecting funnel is arranged below the removal openings of the removal hoppers. The common collecting funnel has a removal device for emptying the common collecting funnel. Each one of the removal openings of the removal hoppers is slot-shaped and has two parallel-extending limiting edges. A rotary gate with at least one gate chamber is arranged below each one of the removal openings. The rotary gate is limited by a substantially cylindrical circumferential wall. The cylindrical circumferential wall has a plurality of inlet/outlet openings adapted to a cross-section of the corresponding removal opening. The inlet/outlet openings are arranged in a row axially adjacent to one another parallel to an axis of rotation of the rotary gate. The rotary gate is arranged such and a size of the cylindrical circumferential wall is selected such that all of the inlet/outlet openings arranged in a row communicate in one rotary position with the corresponding removal opening and in at least one other rotary position allow for emptying of the bulk material from the gate chamber under the force of gravity. In at least one other position the removal opening is closed off by the circumferential wall forming a closure body.
Abstract:
A low profile, lock-gate type of valve for handling dry particulate material forms a conduit therethrough, and a pair of curved flow control blades are mounted on arms and are pivoted with respect to the conduit, to define therebetween a flow measuring chamber, in which the blades are supplied with the convex surface facing the direction of flow in the conduit. The conduit is dog-legged within the valve to provide a low valve profile, and the blades are fully enclosed within the blade housing. A part of the enclosure walls form surfaces on which air cylinders are mounted for controlling the movement of the valve blades. The valve blade seals are accessible from an exterior wall of the valve and are replaceable by extraction through wall openings, and the valve seals are mounted on external brackets on the valve side walls so that they may be easily withdrawn and replaced.
Abstract:
An enclosed gate valve for handling dry particulate material has a rectangular housing, and a curved flow control blade moves through the housing adjacent a housing inlet. The flow control blade is moved by an air cylinder mounted on an inclined and laterally offset wall of a housing compartment. A direct connection is formed between the piston rod of the air cylinder and the arm means supporting the curved flow control blade so that force from the cylinder is applied directly to the blade along a line of movement which is substantially tangent to the arc of blade movement to provide maximum advantage of the power available from the air motor in both the opening and the closing directions. Embodiments are shown of coupling arrangements for attaching the piston rod of the air motor to the blade arms. An indicator pointer provides a visual indication of the movement of the curved blade.
