摘要: A method for operating a locating device having a waveguide laid along a stretch of track to locate a rail vehicle on the stretch of track includes injecting electromagnetic pulses into the waveguide in succession or series and receiving and evaluating backscattering patterns produced by backscattering of the electromagnetic pulse for each emitted pulse. A vibration device located in the region of the stretch of track at a known position is activated at a predefined activation time and a vibration causing backscattering of the electromagnetic pulse is thereby produced at the known position, the duration between the activation time and the receipt of the backscattering pattern indicating the vibration is measured, and the measured duration is used to check the functionality or operation of the locating device or to calibrate the locating device. A locating apparatus for locating a rail vehicle along a stretch of track is also provided.

摘要: Methods and systems that utilize radio frequency identification (RFID) tags mounted at trackside points of interest (POI) together with an RFID tag reader mounted on an end of train (EOT) car. The RFID tag reader and the RFID tags work together to provide information that can be used in a number of ways including, but not limited to, determining train integrity, determining a geographical location of the EOT car, and determine that the EOT car has cleared the trackside POI along the track.

摘要: A system for verifying the integrity of a train having a predetermined length including: a device for communicating and synchronising with a detector of a circuit, detecting the presence/absence of a train, an odometer providing an odometric reference at the start of occupation of the circuit and when the circuit is left by the train, a first processor calculating the distance travelled by the train on the basis of the difference between the two odometric references, a second processor calculating a minimum estimate of the length of the train that is equal to the calculated distance travelled less the algebraic length of the detection circuit, information mechanism indicating that the train is integral when the calculated length of the train is greater than the predetermined length of the train less the length of a wagon.

摘要: An improved End-of-Train device suitable for mounting on a train is disclosed. The End-of-Train device comprises an audio input unit configured to detect an audio input associated with at least one event, and to generate an audio signal based on the audio input. The event is one of an utterance of a voice command by a railway personnel or an incident that potentially impacts an operation of the train. The End-of-Train device further comprises a memory and a processing unit communicatively coupled to the memory. The processing unit is configured to execute one or more instructions in the memory to analyze an audio input to identify one or more actions to be performed by the End-of-Train device and to initiate execution of the one or more actions identified. Further, a notification may be generated based on execution of the one or more actions.
