The friction element inhibits rotation of the wheels of the vehicle with the braking system having a dormant state wherein the friction element is at a first position spaced a first distance from the wheels. The brake pedal is adapted to be depressed to move the friction element into engagement with a portion of the wheels of the vehicle. The sensor senses an operational parameter of the vehicle. The friction element moves from the first position to a second position spaced a second distance from the wheels in response to a predetermined measurement of the operational parameter and before depression of the brake pedal, wherein the second position is closer to the wheels than the first position.

    摘要: A detection switch is mounted on an input shaft through a clevis for detecting the operation of an automatic brake unit without the depression of a brake pedal. The detection switch may also be mounted on the brake pedal. The clevis and the brake pedal are connected together in a manner to permit a relative displacement therebetween through an operating stroke of the detection switch. When the brake pedal is depressed, the brake pedal is maintained at an advanced position relative to the input shaft, and the detection switch detects a retracting movement of the brake pedal with respect to the input shaft from the advanced position during an automatic brake operation. The arrangements allow the detection switch to be mounted on either the input shaft or the brake pedal, does not require design of a small size and facilitates the mounting of the detection switch.

It is so controlled that a distance of the master piston, which is advanced by the automatically pressurizing device when all of the normally open valves are closed during the hydraulic pressure control of the wheel brake cylinders, is greater than the distance of the master piston, which is advanced by the automatically pressurizing device when at least one of the normally open valves is open during the hydraulic pressure control of the wheel brake cylinders.

    摘要: A braking force control apparatus adapted to generate a braking force, which is larger than that generated in a regular case, when a predetermined braking operation is carried out, this apparatus aiming at preventing the occurrence of an unnecessarily large sensible deceleration during a low-speed travel of a vehicle. ECU (10) is adapted to judge whether or not an emergency braking operation has been executed on the basis of a master cylinder pressure (Pmc) and its rate of change (dPmc). When a judgement that an emergency braking operation has been carried out is given, a wheel cylinder pressure (Pwc) is quickly increased by supplying an accumulator pressure to the wheel cylinder. When a vehicle speed exceeds a predetermined level during the execution of the emergency braking operation, the wheel cylinder pressure (Pwc) is speedily increased (116, 118) by a braking assist regular control operation. When the vehicle speed is not higher than a predetermined level during the execution of the emergency braking operation, the wheel cylinder pressure (Pwc) is slowly increased (116, 120) by a braking assist starting special control operation.
