摘要： A vehicle belt system includes a restraint belt having shoulder belt and lap belt ends mounted on the door and an anchor belt mounted inboard the occupant seat and connected to the restraint belt by a disconnect buckle. A storage retractor mounted on the door has the shoulder or lap belt end connected thereto. A spring biases the reel in the belt winding direction. A pawl and ratchet mechanism is operable by a reel driven cam to lock the reel in response to full unwinding of the belt from the reel so that the belt is normally held at the fully extended length appropriate for restraint of seated occupant. The retractor also includes a release device which unlocks the pawl and ratchet mechanism so that the restraint belt will be retracted and stored upon the spring wound reel when the disconnect buckle is released. The release device is preferably an electrical switch in the release buckle which controls an electromagnet for unlocking the pawl and ratchet mechanism or a manually operable push button mounted on the door for unlocking the pawl and ratchet mechanism.

摘要： A safety device for vehicles and their passengers comprises a restraining member, for instance a seat belt wound on a reel. A spring tends to wind in the reel, so that the member normally lies comfortably taut across the body of a seated passenger. A clutch operates in response to certain conditions of the vehicle to prevent the spring winding the reel in, while the reel can still wind out. This allows the belt to slacken to permit passengers to enter and leave their seats without difficulty. Appropriate conditions of the vehicle may include the opening of doors or the turning-off of the ignition system. When the condition ceases the spring first takes up the slack then holds the belt taut as before.

摘要： A vehicle head rest is pivotally mounted on the vehicle roof. An occupant seat belt includes a shoulder belt having its upper end connected to the head rest so that lockup of the retractor locks the shoulder belt to tether the head rest at an occupant restraining position. The upper end of the shoulder belt may pass slidably through the head rest and have its end attached to the seat so that the occupant restraining load imposed on the seat belt is divided between the head rest and the seat. In addition, spiral spring may have an upper end wound around the pivot axis of the head rest, and intermediate portion extending slidably through the head rest and a lower end attached to the seat backs so that fore and aft adjusting movement of the seat winds and unwinds the spiral spring which in turn adjusts the head rest forwardly and rearwardly in coordination with the seat.

Sealing members can thus be easily arranged and it is possible to improve sealing characteristics of the vehicle.

摘要： A door mounted seat belt retractor has a spring biased reel winding the passive seat belt during closing movement of the door. An inertia locking mechanism locks the reel in response to a sensed acceleration condition. A brake level pivotally mounted on the retractor bears upon the outermost layer of belt wound on the reel to retard the windup of the belt as the door approaches the closed position to prevent the belt from being overly wound on the reel simultaneous with the occurrence of a door slam actuated locking of the reel. The brake lever is pivotally mounted on the retractor and includes a belt follower portion which causes the lever to be progressively pivoted as the windup of the belt progresses from the door open position to the door closed position. The lever has a belt braking portion which engages with the belt as the belt approaches the fully wound condition corresponding to closure of the door. An inertia weight is preferably carried by the brake lever distant from the pivotal mount of the brake lever on the retractor in order to impart a belt braking force which is proportional to the acceleration experienced by the door mounted retractor.

This hindrance reminds the driver-caregiver that another passenger is onboard and prompts the removal of the passenger.
