    摘要: A method for making a laminate adapted for decorating a substrate including providing (1) a sheet of pre-mask material including a cover layer and a layer of removable adhesive on one surface of the cover layer having an exposed surface defining a first major surface for the sheet of pre-mask material; (2) a supply length of decorative film tape comprising a length of decorative film having opposite first and second major surfaces, and a layer of adhesive along its second major surface; (3) a sheet of release liner having a first major surface adapted to be releasably adhered to by the removable adhesive on the cover layer and by the adhesive on the decorative film; and (4) a tape applicator. One of the sheets is supported with its first major surface in an application plane, and the tape applicator is used to form display lengths of decorative film tape of different predetermined shapes and lengths from the supply length of decorative film tape and to apply those display lengths of decorative film tape to the first major surface of that one of the sheets in a predetermined pattern; after which the first major surface of the other of the sheets is positioned over the surfaces of the display lengths of decorative film tape opposite the first major surface of that one of the sheets. The method adheres the layers of adhesive on the display lengths of decorative film tape to the to the release liner, and adheres the layer of removable adhesive included in the layer of pre-mask material over the first major surfaces of the lengths of decorative film in the display lengths of decorative film tape adhered to the release liner and to the release liner around the display lengths of decorative film tape.

    摘要: Sheet material (20,20') including a polyvinyl chloride film (21), an application tape (22) removably adhered to one surface (32) of the film (21) and a carrier tape (23) removably adhered to the application tape (22). The polyvinyl chloride film (21) has an exposed surface (33) on which a sign (4) is printed in reverse image. Adhesive (42) is applied over the printed surface (33) with a transfer tape (40). When printed film (21) is applied to a selected surface, the film (21) is adhered to the selected surface by adhesive (42) after separation of the carrier tape (23) and application tape (22) so that the printed sign (4) is on the innermost surface (33) of the film (21) and protected by the thickness of the polyvinyl chloride film (21).

    摘要: There are provided an image transfer sheet for leaving no air bubbles between an image layer and a transfer target object, a method for manufacturing the image transfer sheet and a method for transferring an image. An image transfer method, comprising the steps of: forming a glue layer by pressure-gluing a glued sheet, defined by a substrate and a glue layer provided on a lower surface of the substrate, onto an upper surface of a release paper, having many fine recesses, and subsequently peeling and removing the substrate and exposing the glue layer; printing ink on the exposed upper surface of the glue layer by a non-contact printer to thereby provide an image layer on part of the glue layer; affixing a transfer film on the glue layer provided with the image layer, wherein the transfer film is releasable from the image layer and easily adhesive to the glue layer, and causing the transfer film to contact with a lower surface of the transfer film onto the image layer where there is the image layer, and with the glue layer where there is no image layer; peeling and removing only the release paper from the image transfer sheet; pressure-gluing the lower surface of the glue layer of the image transfer sheet, with the release paper removed, onto a transfer target object; and peeling and removing the transfer film from the image transfer sheet pressure-glued to the transfer target object.

    摘要: The disclosure concerns a method of transferring printed indicia from a paper sheet to a backing surface member by first pressing a film of tacky, contact adhesive, held on a release sheet, against the paper sheet. The sandwich consisting of the paper, the indicia, the adhesive and the release sheet is then soaked in water to remove the paper, leaving the indicia on the surface of the film, but eliminating to a substantial extent, the tacky character of the surface. Next, the backing surface is prepared to receive the indicia-carrying film, by either wetting the same with a solvent such as lacquer thinner which will render the adhesive film tacky or applying a layer of tacky, contact adhesive to this backing surface. It was determined that heat and pressure may also be operative to effect the transfer to the backing surface.
